Bush really could have won the popular vote..
I still think it was stolen, however something that happened to me just this morning made me realize how Bush could have gotten all the votes that he did.

I went for my usual latte at Starbucks and began talking to Steve, a guy who has worked there for years. He started talking a little about the election and how he had a friend who was praying that Kerry was going to win, he however, voted for Bush. Now mind you, this guy is very intelligent, reads a lot and is pretty well traveled. I was just incredulous. I told him I found that very disappointing, and really I just could not hide my anger. I became somewhat antagonistic (couldn't help myself). I asked him why he voted for Bush, and he said that Kerry and The democratic party were too much of a "nanny state". (Patriot Act anyone?) Anyway, I proceeded to ask him if he realized there were going to be more wars in the coming years, and he replied, "oh yeah", it's basically just a balancing act. Do you believe that shit? Let's see, "nanny state" or killing. Boy that's a tough one.

So, in conclusion, here is someone who I have talked to all the time, on a variety of subjects, and never would I have guessed he would be so ignorant and uneducated about such important matters.
Done ranting, thanks for listening, because I have been very upset since that confrontation.

2. The "nanny state" protects that asshole
from being forced to work 80+ hour workweeks, from putting his children on the assembly line next to him, from being exposed to life-threatening conditions on the job, etc., etc., etc.

These fucking morons are so ignorant about what the "nanny state" liberals have provided to them, so fine, let their glorious Mepublican party take it all away, piece by piece. Dismantle the "nanny state" and see how they like it.

3. He did
He could have stolen Ohio but I think we have to face reality that he probably won "fair and square" by conning millions of voters and riding a wave of homophopia.

4. Tell him to enlist if he's so for the Bush Wars....
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 12:13 PM by LauraT28
I bet that would shut him up..If I were you, I would call the recruiters and give them his name and place of employment. Tell them that he's very for the War and that he should be easy to convince to join it....Then no matter what, he will be in their database and when the Bush Draft comes, they'll know where to find him. This is where i'm at now in my thinking. I'm going after all right wingers, and will try to subvert them in any way that I can in order to win my fucking country back. This is what I was trained to do In the Army and this is now my mission. I'm over the Fundie right wing and their agenda.

6. He's older........
Probably late 50's. Like I said, well traveled and read. That's why I was just so taken aback by his lack of any kind of though process on this.

7. Wow- well, he'll be one of the first that's smacked by Bush's policies.
And he'll be slapped hard. Just remember to shove his nose in it.

5. We'll never know whether it was a close Bush victory or an
equally close Kerry victory. What we do know is that there was fraud, and that fraud gave Bush the illusion of a decisive victory.

Hey, guys, don't you think it's time to dump the DLC? It seems they got lucky with Clinton, but have been sure fired election LOSERS ever since.

8. The 'nanny state' is another example of successful Repub framing
of an issue. We need to do a better job defining those fucking assholes.
