How does that sound to you?

1. I think ANY Democrat
will win the states that Kerry won this time -- can Feingold add 20 EVs?

2. I love Feingold, but no more senators please
We need to run governors for a while. Senators have too complex a voting record for most people to understand. The last sitting Senator to win was JFK.

Who do we have in the governor's pool?

6. Mark Warner
seems like the best gubernatorial prospect

Watch for the Republicans to go after him soon.

16. Just like they killed Davis
though Davis wasn't great from a liberal's point of view (like mine), he was a right-leaning centrist Democrat who could have been a threat.

Good luck Wagner!

20. Grey Davis was my least favorite Democrat (besides Zell)
So I didn't really mourn his loss!

4. I like him, but doubt he will do it
and furthermore doubt he has what it takes to win the general election. He is too principled.

12. I dunno, WI-DEM,...
I read an article that stated "as a child, Russ knew he wanted to grow up and be President some day." Hopefully, you're right.

I think he's fantastic, but I don't want to lose him. His service in the senate reminds me of Proxmire, and reflects the sensibilities of most of us.

I'd like to see him move up in the Senate ranks.

5. I say let's put him
in as VP. That way he gets those eight years, and then the following eight, as well!

HOWEVER!!! I don't want to give him up as my Senator!!!

17. I could certainly get behind him as VP
That would give him a little distance from the Senate if he wants to run later.

No more sitting senators.

8. Actually I'm not in favor of it
I like Russ right where he is.

However, as very wise DUer pointed out yesterday, the Feingold Model is an excellent base for an aspiring Dem presidential candidate.

9. I'd hate to lose him as a Senator
But he would be wonderful. But just as the country wouldn't go for a women or a black I don't see them voting for someone who's jewish. I wish I was wrong but I don't think I am.

but we will not win with a liberal maverick from a blue state.

13. I agree. That or move Wisconsin up in the primary schedule
I think having an independent state vote early would be good.

18. Obama Veep?
Not to sound racist, but don't you think the far-red areas of the US would find a black VP more acceptable than a black Pres?

That would give him some time as building up his resume . . .
