Does anyone here speak and/or write Greek?
I'm not sure where to find a translator, but I need to contact the town where my grandfather was born to obtain his birth certificate.

If I can get all my ducks in a row I can get a Greek passport and move to the EU.

3. I need to request the birth certificate and registration number
of my grandfather from a small town in Greece. I have the contact information, but I'm doubtful that I can communicate what I need.

4. Let me know if you can't find help locally,
If I am not mistaken, you may have to serve in the greek army if you are a male less than 45 years old.

7. That won't be an issue,
Maybe for the children though. Do they take asthmatics?

5. Is there a Greek consolate?
My husband's grandfather was born in Naples, and we contacted the Italian Consolate and they are going to obtain the birth certificate for us so he can apply for dual-citizenship.

Note: We are not giving up yet. We are going to fight like hell for the next four years to get our country back. BUT if after all this time our country still looks like a fat-bible belt, we're outta here. At least in Italy there IS no democracy, so we won't have anything left to worry about... sort of like here, but with much better food and wine.

8. The first person we spoke with at the consulate
was very helpful, but the second was not. We've read the qualifications and we are within them. Once we have full documentation we'll approach again.
