4. God does exist, my friend. I too, want to see these assholes suffer

for their crimes; here and now. But no matter what, the afterlife is going to be a bitch for all of those for whom this life was sweet as a result of the suffering of others. Poor Lazarus, and all that........

5. Harm

I agree, but: two points:

1) despotic, corrupt, imperialistic regimes will fall sooner or later. But you assume it will fall to an opposition party within the US and that we should be glad about that. However, with China becoming a huge force in every way, with the economic union, with nations filled with pissed off Muslims, no nation can stand alone against many others. This regime may indeed fall, but I can imagine scenarios where the rest of the world views the country and the regime as the same, taking down both.

2) this regime can do irreparable harm while in power that cannot be undone with new leadership. Wars, deaths, allies turned away, enemies created (think the families of 100,000 dead in Iraq will forget anytime soon?), habitats destroyed forever....cannot be undone

I hope we'll be here when this regime leaves and I hope there will still be something here to value. I do know some of us will not be here then (#1122 and on).
