As bad as we feel, think of Michael Moore, Chris Reeve's widow Dana,
and Dan Rather-- for starters.... They certainly staked a lot on this election and Dana, of course wanted a legacy for Chris to be realized.

For those who haven't been to Michael Moore's site, this is all that is there and I think it says it all:

2. Moore will be fine
he's rich and will continue the fight as I'm sure Dana will too. The rest of us that went out on a limb in our towns are much more at risk of reprisals.

6. I'm not so worried about reprisals as putting myself in their shoes...
Knowing how badly all of us feel who put so much effort into this thing-- Moore truly and sincerely wanted to make the difference (yes, he made money, but that does not negate the fact, nor the personal professional risk he took). As for Dana, this would have been some consolation, I think.. knowing that Chris' death had truly meant something for the future. I do think she will keep fighting, but this can only add to her own grief. Hell, it adds to mine, and I never even met Reeves.

10. Thank you, g40. . .
In this celebrity-driven culture, too many people focus on the "pain" of the visible to the exclusion of what the rest of us face. The risks Moore took in the past year made him quite wealthy, so there's tradeoffs in his situation. Dana Reeve, I'm sure, will continue her efforts and may yet see fruition. Me? I stand to lose my children in a senseless slaughter being played out for a pack of lies. My social security is going to be spread amongst vultures in the financial markets. The decisions which will soon be rendered by a newly-constituted draconian court will impact my children's children's children's great-offspring. And those are just the start of my troubles -- of all our troubles, mine as well as Moore and Reeve and millions of others. So the bell tolling in the distance is for me and thee and it warns of shoals ahead, rocks we seemingly cannot avoid but which we must find a means to steer around.

3. I hope Moore is pissed
Anger breeds creativity. For that matter, I'm sure Hollywood is pissed as well. Hopefully that anger will make it to the screen in some form.

5. Please explain...
I haven't slept or eaten for a few days, so forgive me for being a bonehead, but who are all those little pictures? The dead soldiers?

13. Chicks, yeah! And that reminds me of Linda Ronstadt...
who got in trouble in Vegas for speaking out. We bought both Chicks and Ronstadt CDs and gave them to friends --
