More people voted FOR Kerry than voted for Reagan in his landslide victory.

To the editor:

I'm tired of hearing reporters and pundits declare that Bush and his party now have a mandate to govern this country as they see fit (that is, further pushing their radical right-wing agenda). Yes, more people voted for Bush than have voted for any other sitting president in history. But the converse is true as well: more people voted against Bush than have ever voted against a previous sitting president. Mandate? Not so when more than 50 million Americans resoundingly rejected Bush's agenda.
