Click here if you want to move to Canada
Now that George W. Bush has been officially elected, single, sexy, American liberals - already a threatened species - will be desperate to escape.

These lonely, afraid (did we mention really hot?) progressives will need a safe haven.

You can help. Open your heart, and your home. Marry an American. Legions of Canadians have already pledged to sacrifice their singlehood to save our southern neighbours from four more years of cowboy conservatism.

4. I don't understand the "about" reference
and I'm still offially married, plus I have a (post-breakup) girlfriend. But in the name of brotherly, oh, OK not brotherly, umm, OK, generic love for my American neighbours I am willing to house female immigrants until they get on their feet.

7. Well I want to, but not because of republicans
My inclination is always to stay and fight. This is my country and I will fight for it. But to be honest, considering the fact that I'm gay and I have been reading a never ending stream of so called democrats here blame gays for Kerry's loss, I am reconsidering the move.

10. can't we self annex
I mean it is plainly an North Vs. South issue. We'll have some people kicking and scratching in Montana, but lets take the West Coast and Northern States and change their citizenship to Canada.

Canada would Get HOLLYWOOD and BROADWAY. What a bargin!

15. timbits and true love

We don't just throw away the doughnut holes up here.

And if we weren't way out here in the ether where anybody can hear us, I'd tell you a tale of a Canadian who *did* marry a deserter from the US Army during the Vietnam War ... one of those midwestern working-class boys who had signed up to do his duty ... who is now, one assumes, still happily living in Canada with his second wife and at least one baby, yikes, 30-year-old child, who hopefully never registered for the US draft.

I do know one dual-citizenship child of a Vietnam War draft resister, born and living in Canada, who registered for the US draft a couple of years ago so that he could go to school there as a US citizen rather than as a foreign student. Guess he might not be vacationing south in the near future.

Canadian immigration looks a little more closely at marriages than it used to. But who knows, true love just might blossom quickly between democracy-minded singles across the border.

I've always thought that DU should have a singles forum!
