I haven't really talked much about how the election results make me feel.
I tend to keep those sort of emotions private. But I'm going to go ahead and tell anyone interested in reading:

I feel like I've been personally beaten. It might as well have been my name on the ballot. It might as well have been me losing to George W. Bush on Tuesday. That's how it feels.

But let me tell you something - I don't like being beaten. And it'll be a cold day in hell before I let another Republican beat me.

Who's with me?

1. I'm going all passive aggressive
In other words, I can't do much of anything against them right now, so I'm not going to do anything for them, and this includes actively fighting and giving them a reason to complain about the left. I'm laying low for now, and waiting for the catastrophes to start to pile up.

It took Europe two world wars and a depression to shake that Imperial smugness. Who knows, maybe Bush will be so bad that he'll cause the conditions to break through it here.

We're very close to a tipping point. We know Bush is incapable of dealing with anything outside his simplistic dogma. The looks on the stupid, piggy faces of Bush supporters should be priceless as the awful truth begins to dawn on them, that we were right about things.

2. Perhaps so.
I certainly don't see how his second term can be a great success, since he seems to have no intention of changing any of his policies.

But the American people had four years of failure, and still turned to Bush. So I don't think we can guarantee that four more years will change their minds - or their hearts. We may need to help persuade them.

Exactly. And I'm goddamned if I'll let them try to blame ANYTHING on Clinton!

3. I ventured from my house for the first time since the results came in
Went to the gym and the grocery store. The sadness and bewilderment really hit me as I looked at the people around me. I kept thinking are you one of them? Are you happy that he won? Do you hate me because I'm an atheist? Do you think I should not have choice over my body? Do hate some of my friends because they are gay? In 2000 I was just irritated. That was the pre-9/11 me I guess. I take it personally this time. Fuck you BushCo and your hateful supporters.
