Ten reasons why Arnold will never be Governor of California
Edited on Mon Sep-01-03 03:19 PM by Champion_Jack
Just found this today while researching earthships....don't ask

HASTA LA VISTA, CONAN: by Chris Parry

When he said the words on Jay Leno's Tonight Show, even the staunchest of stomachs just had to have turned. Arnold Schwarzenegger would run for the position of Governor of California. Was it all just a joke? When he claimed he was going to "pump up" the folks in Sacramento, was this all actually real or just some kind of ironic giggle at the entire California recall process? Sadly, it's real. Arnie thinks he's qualified to run the fifth largest economy in the world. Personally, I'm not sure he's qualified to run a lawnmower, so let's look at the ten best reasons why Californians have nothing to fear from Conan the Republican.
10 - HE JUST AIN'T THAT SMART - Arnie was on conservative meat-hammer Sean Hannity's radio program today saying, "I think that gay marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman." Now, I know it's easy for me to start with a joke that doesn't actually require any writing of my own, but clearly someone needs to fill the Mr Freeze in on what 'gay marriage' actually is...

9 - HE ADMITS THAT HE WAS A RACIST - Schwarzenegger has admitted that he was once 'prejudiced'. It's public knowledge that his father was a member of the Nazi Party, and a few years ago Schwarzenegger asked the Simon Weisenthal Center in LA to investigate his father in order to prove he wasn't guilty of war crimes. Now, it's nice that Pappy Schwarzenegger never actually put a gun to the head of anyone with a tattoo on his or her arm, but talk about your shady political backgrounds! We can see it now, "Sure, I was raised by a Nazi and I used to be prejudiced, but I swear I really like Jews now! Heck, I work in the movie industry!" Incidentally, Arnold asked the Weisenthal Center to do their work only after his father's connections were publicly raised in an unauthorized biography. Since then, he's donated a lot of money to the center and claims a complete reversal of his own prejudices.

8 - HE WAS IN BATMAN AND ROBIN - Don't count out the validity of this point. There are STILL a lot of people who don't forgive anyone involved in this travesty of cinema. Seriously, if you say the words "cool party" around Harry Knowles, he comes at you like the Star Wars Kid (take a look at http://www.jedimaster.net if that name doesn't ring a bell). Schwarzenegger's portrayal of Mr Freeze was so lame, so expensive and so laughable that it started an anti-Schwarzenegger backlash that, until Terminator III kicked him back into the spotlight, threatened to turn the Incredible Bulk into Stallone 2.

7 - HE TELLS LIES - "There's so little time to do all the things I want to do that I can't see any reason to get bogged down in sequels." - Arnold tells Starlog Magazine why he doesn't do sequels in 1991, just months before announcing his role in Terminator 2. Since then he's been in Terminator 3, Batman and Robin, Dr Dolittle 2, Total Recall: The TV Series, and has recently finished filming on a remake of Around the World in 80 Days. Reported to be currently in development: Total Recall 2 and True Lies 2.

6 - HE INHALED... AND INJECTED - Arnold admitted last year that he has previously enjoyed smoking a little weed from time to time. That comes on top of his admissions that he used steroids during his body-building career. And if you're wondering whether Arnold's drug dalliance was a one-off, go rent the 1977 documentary Pumping Iron and watch him light up a doob after training. Not exactly the kind of behavior you expect from a Republican. How will the Catholic League view such revelations?

5 - HE DIDN'T JUST INHALE AND INJECT - HE 'HOT MEAT INJECTED' TOO! - You have to hand it to The Smoking Gun (http://www.thesmokinggun.com), who have revealed this week that Arnold, who has previously denied Premiere Magazine's allegations that he's a sexual harasser and womanizer, admitted in a 1977 Oui Magazine interview to having group sex with groupies. To quote their unmissable expose, "Arnold Schwarzenegger once told a magazine interviewer about participating in an orgy with other bodybuilders, noting that 'everybody jumped on' the woman involved and 'took her upstairs where we all got together.' The California Republican added that not every muscleman participated in the gang bang, 'just the guys who can fuck in front of other guys. Not everybody can do that. Some think that they don't have a big-enough cock, so they can't get a hard-on.'" Truly glorious!

4 - I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE WORDS - More from The Smoking Gun's Oui article, "I can look at a chick who's a little out of shape and if she turns me on, I won't hesitate to date her. If she's a good fuck, she can weigh 150 pounds, I don't care... we had girls backstage giving head, then all of us went out and I won. It didn't bother me at all; in fact, I went out there feeling like King Kong."

3 - WHAT'S ARNIE'S STANCE ON GAY RIGHTS? - "Men shouldn't feel like fags just because they want to have nice-looking bodies... Gay people are fighting the same kind of stereotyping that bodybuilders are: People have certain misconceptions about them just as they do about us. Well, I have absolutely no hang-ups about the fag business." Again, this would be from Arnie's no holds barred Oui interview, though judging by his odd stance on gay marriage (see point 10), perhaps not much has changed.

2 - ARNIE'S ASSOCIATES - Some may say it's unfair to raise Arnie's parental past, or even his once admitted, now supposedly refuted, penchant for racial prejudice, but right now Arnie is a board member of an outfit known as US English. This group's stated objective is to make English the one and only language of the USA. They object to the teaching of Spanish in schools, the accomodating of Spanish on street signs and the like, and Arnie has served on their board in an advisory capacity for some fifteen years. But what is US English really all about? US English co-founder John Tanton has reportedly started thirteen anti-immigrant groups previously, including three that have been labeled racist hate organizations by legal advocacy groups. After Arnie joined the outfit, a series of racially-suspect memos came out that saw then-board members Walter Cronkite and Linda Chavez resign in disgust, yet oddly, Schwarzenegger stayed aboard.
A mere blip on the radar? Perhaps, but three months ago US English hired a new employee called James Lubinskus. If you don't know who Lubinskus is, you probably don't subscribe to the white supremicist magazine American Renaissance, upon which Lubinskus serves as Assistant Editor. You probably also don't show up to the racial hate group rallies at which Lubinskus has spoken. When these facts were raised by the Washington Post recently, another US English board member, David Horowitz, resigned. Schwarzenegger? Still there. Why exactly?

1. (snipped)

Does Arnie show a few errors of judgement in his past, or is this a guy who is patently, unquestionably, of the lowest moral and ethical ilk? Does he truly feel the racial views that have been prescribed to him? Has he cleaned up his act from his formerly wayward habits? Can he be trusted? Or is this all just that ironic joke I talked about earlier?

I leave it to the voters of the state of California to decide for themselves.

---

UPDATE!

We've just managed to confirm that Arnold did in fact purchase the rights to Pumping Iron for US$1m some six years ago. We've also confirmed that the outtakes that came with that purchase include talk of orgies, drugs and - yes - everything else we described above

1. you can list many reasons why AWOL shouldn't be re-elected ... but it
seems it all comes down to 'spin' and PR.... if the polls are accurate...it appears that Cruz will have a good chance.

2. I have no problem bringing up the mans past
In this case, it is up to him to prove he is not a bigoted sexual predator. The republican party set the stage for this.

The unsubstantiated one (#1). This makes me quite uncomfortable. The author of this says he tried to substantiate it but couldn't. You should have deleted it then, IMO.

8. I don't think it is fully unsubstantiated...
Possibly, the bit about Ahnuld spouting off anti-Semitic comments during Pumping Iron should have been snipped (since no one can see the footage involved), but the fact that he did a photo op with vicious racist and Hitler-admirer Jorg (not "Horg" as the article says) Heider is not. Heider is right up there with David Duke, Tom Metzger and other U.S.-born neo-Nazis, except with a lot more prominence and power. If Ahnuld was publicaly consorting with him a mere seven years ago, it puts the lie to the claim, as stated by one of Ahnuld's supporters, that he was "to the right of Attila the Hun" when he first achieved prominence as a bodybuilder, but has since changed to a "compassionate conservative."

4. From a Californian:
Vote No on Recall

Vote Bustamante on Candidate

You know, Champion_Jack, I bet none of that stuff means a damn thing to Ahnold's hero worshippers! I saw him on the news at the CA State Fair today and he was just engulfed by admirers. It's like, don't confuse me with the facts, I just loooooooove him. I am so afraid the Recall will pass and the demos will split thus allowing Ahnold to get in. OMIGOD!!!

7. All good reasons.
The man is a sleaze, and I've always disliked him.

I've been trying to talk my husband into building an earthship since before we married. We actually spent a long weekend in one in NM last spring, and it was fabulous.

10. Arnold break into Hitler's 'Sieg heil' salute ! ! ! *yikes!*
<I tried, but I just couldn't verify this information. What I could verify, simply by reading Arnold's unauthorized biography, was that Schwarzenegger was photographed in 1996 with a man named Horg Heider, who at the time was leader of Austria's extreme right wing Freedom Party and has publicly praised Hitler's "sensible policies". Additionally, according to the aforementioned biography, many witnesses over the years have seen Arnold break into Hitler's 'Sieg heil' salute, and been present when he plays his records of Hitler's speeches at home.>

Good Gawd - a for real Nazi trying to steal California! Over my dead cold body!

11. Problem: No on Recall gets 49%, Arnie gets 10% (or less) of the vote...
and he's governor. Davis needs a majority to stay in office -- less than 50% on "No Recall," and he's out. By contrast, the candidate on the second part of the ballot could conceivably win by 10% or less of the vote.

If the usually wise people of Minnesota elected an ex-wrestler, what damage could the voters of California do?

And make no mistake, the right wing is starting to line up behind Arnie -- they will sacrifice principle in favor of a victory. Remember, no Republican candidate for president, senator or governor has won in California since 1994. They want this one *bad*.
