In my opinion the morals factor quite well may have been the deciding factor in this election. From the gay marrige issue, God in pledge, prayer in schools, ten commandments and religon abusing president, we had our work cut out for us.

In my opinion the regligous right effectively highjacked the morality issues as a result of 9-11. Many people turned to religon to help them deal with this tragedy. The republicans milked this for all it was worth. Without OBL and 9-11 this would have been much harder to do. OBL became to many the anti-christ, (he may well be), but I am not convinced he is. Fundemental christians look at the war on terror the same way that muslims do, as it is the two religon against each other. Bush fostered this by first calling it a crusade and operation infinite justice. Again this all because of OBL and Bush's ability to politize 9-11.

Then the wedge issues. When you allready have a fired up emotional christian community, take the ten commandments and get people to put the in govt. buildings. This is sure to fire the right up. Do the same with the pledge of allegience. See where all this going.

In the past when America had differences about these things they generaly got worked out or died down. But with the threat of alqueada and OBL the religous right have drawn a line in the sand. The manipulation of the christans by Bush with the help of OBL was masterfull. OBL was worth much more to Bush alive than dead. That's why he is still alive. They are both effective at using each other to make each other more powerfull. But the reality is they both are dangerous. I would add in the second term we may well capture or kill OBL he now is not as valuble as he was before the election. But a capture or kill before the election might have been forgotten. Without a boogyman who would our hero protect us from? Who would the radical christans have for a antichrist? Use OBL as the smack up side of the head. Then threaten the christans with more and more abortions, gay marrige, God out of pledge. Run on fear baby, it sells. Just ask On-star, Allstate insurance, or Karl Rove.
