Is everyone hearing the elementary school age kids talk "baby killer?"
Every parent I talk to is saying their kids are coming home saying Kerry is a baby killer. Obviously I know why this is happening, but did it come directly from the churches and then to the parents?? It is a disgusting phenomenon...

15. Yep, Rethugs have always been perfectly happy to abandon them ...
once they've been born!

* It's ok to them to kill Muslims because they're of a different faith.

* Some of them think IVF is okay but not stem cell research; they have to have their babies!

* It's ok for a child to be adopted into a life of misery when it is given up by its mother.

* They do not want anything to do with PAYING for all of these unwanted children once they're alive.

* They feel fine about the death penalty occasionally killing innocent people.

HYPOCRISY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER! I am SICK of their HOLIER THAN THOU attitudes when it is THEY who disrespect human life! Life may begin at conception, but it doesn't END at BIRTH, EITHER, you LUNATICS!!!!!

7. It's happening at my son's school too.
He's coming home more and more depressed every day about all of the 'republican' kids teasing him because he supported a baby killer. What is worse is we live in a poor little town with absolutely no hope now that Bush is in for 4 more years. These parents are a bunch of gun toting hunter idiots who don't give a shit about any issue except their damn guns but they have no problem sending this bullshit idea into the heads of their own children.

8. I think it is the churches. The fundamentalist churches played a huge rol
The fundamentalist churches played a huge role in this election. They were the constituency that Rove really focused on increasing, and it worked. They're keyed up to a very great extent this week.

The only silver lining is that they will be very angry when they don't get everything they've been promised. I think that bushco promised the fundy churches a lot of things that will turn most Republicans' hair grey when they find out what they are, including -

1. Overturn Roe v Wade and pass a constitutional amendment specifically banning abortion AND contraception.

2. Recriminalize all open GLBT behavior, including recriminalization of sodomy laws. Constitutional amendment.

3. Constitutional amendment guaranteeing Christian prayer in schools and use of the Ten Commandments and other Christian props in public buildings.

I am fairly sure that the churches were promised these things. Let's pop some popcorn and watch the fireworks when the Republican mainstream finds this out!

10. The churches will get their payback
When they realize they are an arm of the Republican Party, and no longer have control over their own organization

When a party operative starts telling them "do this or else" and they realize they have no choice.

9. I heard it too
My wife was told by a middle school age kid that Kerry kills 2 year old babies.

This was not about abortion. It was specifically "two year old babies" he supposedly kills.

The kid comes from a fundie family.

Sick idiots abound in this country.

12. Yes, my youngest brought a friend home for an overnighter
and the kid was shocked to discover we are of the hated Demoncrat ilk. Her first reaction: But you're baby killers! I explained to her that no, we believe that the government does not own the bodies of its citizens.

It's everywhere.

16. Yes - it's sickening
My daughter is in kindergarten and her school had a mock election on Monday (Kerry 157/ * 40 - I live in Chicago!).

When I asked about the election, she seemed upset. She said her friend told her that John Kerry kills babies and that since she voted for Kerry, she kills babies too. Kindergarteners are 5 years old.

I can't wait to bump into that child's mother at the playground.

Infuriating, sickening.

When their friends ask them why they were "for Kerry" they always said, "So you're for abortion and gays?"

22. Someone needs to get pictures of dead pregnant Iraqi women and
children and paste these pictures all over these churches and show these pictures to people who open their fat trap about Kerry being a baby killer! Say on the pictures or something "What about their unborn? What about their children? What did they do?" So sick and tired of this hypocrisy!

24. my wife teaches elementary school
and in another class the teacher had to have the principal come in to instate a total ban on political discussion because some kids were calling other kids baby-killers because they were supporting kerry in the mock election. It was either a third or fourth grade class. I found that pretty sick.

The parents don't have any sense of tact or decorum, so there's no reason the kids would, I suppose.

26. I had to keep my daughter home from school today
The harassment, abuse, and bullying had become intolerable. I called the principal and told her that this has to stop.

The school allowed this situation to happen by having a mock election. THERE IS NO NEED TO DO THIS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. The school only goes up to sixth grade. These kids don't know what they are talking about. They don't know where Iraq even is on a map and have no idea what Social Security and Medicare are. Yet, they will argue in the classroom and at lunch. My daughter couldn't take it anymore. She has come home crying the past couple days because the Bush supporters wouldn't leave her alone.

A friend of mine had her son punched in the stomach by a kid who supported *.

This mock election crap has got to stop. If they want to teach voting has a civic responsibility, fine. Do that. But don't hold an election that only serves to give free publicity to the winner and results in arguments and harassment of those who hold a minority view. (We live in heavy repuke country.) The only "lesson" the kids learn is to ask your parents or your friends who to vote for. It doesn't impress upon them the need to look at the issues and develop an INFORMED opinion of your own.

I think there may be more to the mock election website on the Internet that the schools are using. I'm suspicious of who is running it, who is funding it, and what they are doing with the results. Have you noticed that elections at school are held before election day?

I was distressed that it happened to my daughter. Now I'm overwhelmed to see how widespread this has become.

30. Mister Rogers and Captain Kangaroo
Are probably turning in their collective graves now.

I even cried a little thinking about these two wonderful men, taken from us before this debacle. And they aren't here for the children who are probably hurting from this election. And also for the children who are the survivors from the nearly 1200 dead in Iraq.

Regardless of their political bent, Mr. Rogers and Mr. Keeshan's hearts and gentle words were a safe refuge from the frenzied political landscape.

I think what they would have said on Wednesday morning to these kids:

Yesterday, the American people voted for a President. No matter who the adults in your family voted for, Mr. Bush will remain the nation's President. That means you have to be nice and respectful of other people who think differently from you, regardless who your parents, friends and relatives voted for. Now is the time to practice kind words and nice thoughts and live in peace.

But no, we have these a-hole teachers telling kids as young as kindergarten that Kerry is a baby killer. Dammit.

31. Not at my kids' school --yet
If anyone says that to my kids at school I expect I would end up getting a call from the principal's office because my kids would end up hitting whoever said that to them. While screaming a retort that * is sending army men to die to make money and get oil for his fatcat friends.

I have my Kerry sticker on my car and sign in my yard but I did warn the kids not to talk about the election at school. They get in enough trouble as it is, LOL.
