4. Step One: Fight Diebold
As long as those black boxes are in counties, there is no physical existence of your vote. They can skew the election however they want.

5. How can we reclaim 2006?
State by State. The Capitals, not the senate.

9. You mean State Legislatures?
They're overwhelmingly GOP.

15. Yes, they are.
But the gate to the capital is the state governorships and legislatures. Think about it. When the repugs were down and out in 1972, they went after the state legislatures and the governorships.

17. Yes, that's what the ReThugs did after 1972.
You control the states, redistricting, election machine...then you move to the federal level

6. I'll be voting against Talent in '06.

He's basically done nothing. It'll be tough to unseat him, just because he's an incumbent, but it can be done. He won by only a slim margin last time around.

7. I read today that Frist would keep his promise to drop
out in 2006 after finishing 2 terms. Anyone know if this is true?

11. Yes it is true.
If we could get our Gov, Phil Bredesen to run for U.S. senate, he might get it. He is real popular. Rumor hasit Harold Ford jr. on Dem side and Zach Wamp on Rep. Not many popular Dems in TN. A wildcard Dem, US rep. Lincoln Davis could make a run for U.S. senate.

10. Pennsylvania???
I'd like to add the name of State Senator Allen Kukovich, but am not sure what is next for him under current circumstance.

Allen Kukovich is a great progressive legislator and has the ability to work for what's right and get it done across party lines. For example he authored one of the 1st CHIP programs to get health benefits for uninsured PA kids. It has always seemed to those in his district that Allen is one guy that is on track to statewide or even national office.

Well, in this election Kukovich was targeted by GOP's $$$ and Richard Scaife's local newspaper. Knowing how good Kukovich is, and where he is poised, they got a little twit wannabe land surveyor (turncoat liberal Dem now ultra-conservative right-winger) named Bob Regola to run. It was one of the filthiest, dirtiest campaigns in PA History. Kukovich was hit with barrage of vicious, bizarre, and false attacks -- then accused of lying about Regola! Far right GOP provided the (VERY big) money and Scaife provided the media coverage (and a few shenanigans of his own.)

Look here: http://www.PAvotersfortruth.com

So Allen Kukovich lost his seat by like 4,000 votes (in a 120,000 vote race). Don't know what is next for him, especially after being smeared like this, but if you ever hear the name Allen Kukovich mentioned for anything -- he is a GOOD PERSON.

If the PA Dems really got behind him, defended big-time him from this smear, and put up the BIG bucks he might stand a chance. One advantage, since he's out of the Legislature after January, if they ran him it wouldn't be taking out a Congressperson or Governor, etc. who would leave a seat open to the GOP somewhere else...

12. I've read that Rendell wants to run Barbara Hafer
State Treasurer, a former liberal Republican and Republican nominee for Governor - back when the PA GOP was defined by people like John Heinz.

14. No intention whatsoever
She nearly was appointed to the Senate after her husband's death and nearly ran in the election to succeed him.

But she rejected it. Frankly, she kind of looked relieved not to be first lady. She has the weird ambivalence about politics - she's more interested in activism and philanthropy.

16. I like her, BUT
she is probably too polarizing... just met a Dem tonight (in nearby donut shop) says he himself voted JK/JE but thinks we lost because of THK!! Geesh.
