I have not posted here since Monday night. On Tuesday, I had a afternoon medical appointment, with a drive back home in traffic. I spent the time in car listening to Air America, from 230pm (PST) to 330pm, then again from 5pm to 7pm (I hate traffic). I got home, kissed my wife, then walked to my polling place where I voted (straight Democratic Ticket) and for the various California propositions. I then came home to cruise the net for results. It was about 730pm.
At 8pm, I found out we were behind. I gave up in disgust at 930, playing computer games until I went to bed at 1030. The next morning, I logged in and found out we were hanging by a thread. By noon, the thread was cut.
We had been beaten.
I work on a Naval Base. How fitting. My co-workers are a mix of contractors and government employees. For the past several years, the government employees have been losing thier jobs to contractors. Part of the effort to privatize the military's support services.
One of my coworkers is a obnoxious Republican. A government employee, he is glad that "Scary" (his word) lost, because he did not want the defense of his country left to a "Traitor". He is glad Daschle lost because "He's evil. I don't have any proof, but my gut says so." I could go on with his opinions, but it's not needed, is it? We all know the type.
He got his notice today, his job is gone, replaced by one of us "Damned Contractors."
And I told him he got what he wanted. He didn't understand. You voted for Bush I told him. Bush is the one eliminating the government jobs and replacing them with contractors. Obviously you wanted your job taken away by a contractor, so why are you whining. He said it wasn't Bush's fault, it was the Defense Department. And who is in charge of the Defense Department? Why, Rumsfeld. It's Rumsfeld's fault he told me, not Bush's. Who appointed Rumsfeld? Who stood by him when he got caught covering up the crimes of Abu Graib? Who put Rumsfeld in a position of power where he could have you replaced? You don't get my sympathy when you get fired by the guy you wanted in charge.
And that is my attitude. If you voted for Bush and the Republicans, and something bad happens to you that is the fault of the U.S. Government, or something that the government could have made easier for you but Bush cut that program, tough shit. You voted for him, he had you fired, fuck you. No sympathy.
Another coworker, a politer Republican, suffers from health problems. She's also a government worker, and has been warned that if she takes anymore leave for medical reasons, even unpaid leave, she'll be replaced. And she's angry. And I told her 'aren't you glad Bush won?' And then I spelled it out for her: This is exactly what Bush wants; for you to vote for him in spite of the fact that he doesn't give a shit about you and your health problems, for you to vote for him even as he arranges to have you fired, to vote for him even as he threatens to cut your health care. Well, you must have wanted it that way. So why are you bitching.
Yes, I'm bitter. How many times do these fools have to be kicked in the head before they realize that the guy that's kicking them is the same one they voted into power?
My cousing in Florida, if you email me again about how the government is making it harder for you to get your disablity care? Fuck you, you voted to have your disability care cut.
My Navy buddy, who complains that VA takes forever to process your claims? Fuck you, you voted to have VA cut.
My stepfather, who voted for Bush because of the 'welfare queens' and 'Mexcans' and 'Vie'mese' who are cheating this country, I don't want to here you say jack shit about how your social security is less than promised. You voted for him, you screwed yourself.
Fuck All Of Them.
No Quarter. NO QUARTER! You damn well earned your fate! Give Busco my compliments, HE PUT YOU IN THIS STATE!
