Ok I feel bad. I am gay and I feel partially responsible for this loss. Evangelicals turned out in their full number to vote against Kerry just because of civil unions and not OKing the gay marriage constitutional amendment. So why dont the democrats just endorse gay marriage and make their base happy? As we have seen, the party has lost the issue already. Even if they just back domestic partnerships these hate filled monsters turn out in full force. So why not just support the real thing..they will vote against us either way.

you are confused. There was no amendment to O'key gay marriage. The amendment was to prohibit gay marriage, and it passed in 11 states. The religious folks showed up in drove so they can prohibit gays to marry.

We have those rights because we are Americans.

I guess I just see marriage as a religious argument.
I personally don't think the government should define or recognize marriage at all, be it between man and man, woman and woman, or man and woman.
I say civil unions for all, and let the peoples religions decide if they are married.

6. I've posted this so many times I'm getting tired of reading |

it myself, but no one has replied. Why doesn't someone write a bill that would give gays ALL the rights of marriage without calling it a marriage. I feel the gays are being bullheaded about being able to use that word (and they could for all anybody would care) and the religious people get their hackles up just thinking gays can be married. This seems so simple to me because what would the argument against allowing them full rights without the word "married" be? It doesn't affect anyone but the 2 people involved. WHAT'S THE BIG DAMN DEAL WITH THE WORD????
