To lurkers and freeptards reading here...(rant alert)
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 11:53 PM by seraph
As I began to start surfing beyond the borders of DU, I started to see some things that have been posted here showing up in other places friendly to the "other side".

Your obsession with us is flattering! Thank you!

However, let this serve as a warning.

bush's victory was "the narrowest win for a sitting president since Woodrow Wilson in 1916." That is not a mandate.

More votes were cast against your "war time drag queen flight suit wearing president" than any other incumbent in history.

We know you cheated with BBV, and we know how you used lies to drive right wing fundies out to the polls.

"John Kerry will ban the bible"

"John Kerry will legalize gay marriage"

And the rest of your agenda of rage.

Heed this freeptards -

This is going to blow up in your faces. We are more energized and determined than ever. We will fight you to the death for our country.

Count on it.

1. Playing Devil's Advocate
I'm sure they would remind you that while more people voted against Bush than any other president thats a double edged sword because that means that more people had to vote for Bush than any other president ever in order for him to win. I personally have been saving the "voted against him" argument till a righty brings up the "Mandate" thing.

3. Save what you like.

Bottom line 51% - 48% is not a mandate. And trust me, they are already using this "Mandate Meme"

2. Exactly,
The north squashed them before and we will do it again.

We may be against the iraq war . But I am all for a war which we really are defending OUR country.

7. Nuke "Jesus Land"

It's like a fucking bad amusement park where uptight white republican fundies get to hate gays and "librulls".

9. The north was republican and the south democrat. We need new paradigm
Unless we can win the south we will lose forever. Crying and screaming is pointless. Clinton's genius was appealing to the middle.
Unless we attract the majority, obviously we will remain in the minority.

4. as to your W. Wilson reference...
...bush's victory was "the narrowest win for a sitting president since Woodrow Wilson in 1916. That is not a mandate.
Not only is that not a mandate, but I believe Wilson's slogan in 1916 was, unfortunately, "He kept us out of war!!!" Bush certainly didn't have that going for him.

8. To add on your point

This elections was not won on the real issues. The use of the moral values argument is just a cover up for the real motives of hate, fear, ignorance and intolerance. When repug hacks using points of bush being a so called "man of the people", and he's who people would rather have a beer with as a litmus test to who would make a better president, it proves that they can't win on the real issues. The economy is bad, unemployment is high, heathcare and social security are screwed up, we're in a sensless war with no end in sight, and we have an education system is being underfunded. Let's see what this beer swilling, "man of the people" dipshit can do this time, that he already hasn't messed up.
