OK Fitzgerald (US Atty)...can you release the Plame indictments now?

Patrick Fitzgerald is the "Special" US Attorney who Ashcroft appointed to prosecute the Valery Plame "outing" treason investigation.

He took a three week investigation and somehow, through great political ingenuity, managed to stretch it out into an interminable year long wild goose chase that-- surprise, surprise-- droned on until after the election.

In other words...and make no mistake about this...in a 2.5% Bush victory, he (Fitzgerald) personally swung the election to Bush by suppressing information about a clear-cut case of felony-treason within Bush's inner circle. Rove's "...vote for me and I'll keep you safe..." theme would have been laughable, had Fitzgerald done his job as a professional and promptly indicted the traitor. With modern day phone records (let alone Patriot Act surveillance) a first year law student would have had a Grand Jury 'true bill' in three weeks time.

Now that Bush's second term is secure...and Robert Novak has written a half dozen gloating columns about the demise of the Democratic party, Firzgerald will no doubt announce a "bill of information" (i.e. a plea bargain) with these felons, with some nasty community service for the perpetrators. A compliant Fourth Estate will briefly gasp; then turn their attention to the latest news in the Lacie Petersen case.

And Ms Plame's overseas contacts, who are now facing probable execution, will have learned a keen and very personal lesson in the science of US political campaigns.
