Seems to be a big whiff of desperation to the Dean bashing
Edited on Mon Sep-01-03 03:51 PM by Forkboy
Hell,I'm supporting Kucinich and even I'm amused at just how desperate much of the Dean bashing is sounding lately.

One the many reasons I back DK is the positive feel of his supporters. While Dean supporters are aggressive it's usually responding to attacks from other camps, mainly the Kerry one.Dean supporters are excited and show it.Kerry and others are desperate and show it as well.

1. What would he propose and fight for that's different?
That's the issue some of us are concerned about, regardless of which candidate you're talking about, or which one makes you personally feel positive (whatever you mean by that).

2. I agree
and I'm not trying to say all Kerry supporters are doing the bashing. Many have very valid criticisms and questions.

As for what I mean by being positive;I wasn't speaking about what makes ME personally feel positive (that will never happen,I'm far too cynical for that :) ) but about the general tone of the supporters of various candidates. The DK supporters seem to be by far the most positive of the bunch, that's what I was trying to convey. That positiveness is appealing,at least to me,though it's only a small factor in why I'm supporting DK.

4. Nope, not all Kerry supporters
..and I just wish they'd stop and realize that Dean supporters do still like Kerry. he's just not first-string to us.

Oh well...two major Dean bashers from the Kerry camp that I see. One on ignore, one is fun to laugh at.

my friend whom i've affectionately dub turd in the punch bowl but got tired of the same ol crap...he's now on my ignore list and the air seems alot fresher now....

Good luck with your fundraising!!! It takes about 500k to run a House election...on average (wink wink Chimpy)...what are you figuring? We have 30k registered members here...if half that gave $20 you have 300k in no time.....would that help?

And we also have a member here who's husband is running, yes? Let's get the repugs to spend everywhere!!!!!!

suck up the cash flow of the repugs!!!

3. Kucinich is a lot more positive...
Listening to how DK deals with Dean as the perceived front runner was interesting( in his comments at the Labor Day rally in IA). He kept mentioning questions he has of Dean--and sure there was implied criticism in his questions--yet DK seemed more interested in a dialogue with HD than attacking him.

Honestly my heart is with DK and my head is with Dean. But the attacks on Dean from Lieberman, Kerry and the DLC have really turned me off. Kucinich deals with Dean more constructively--and I respect that.

7. Kucinich is asking the right questions.
It's when Dems attack each other with Rove's talking points that pissed me off.

5. I like Dennis and Howard. The others can go jump in a lake.
Except Al. He's too much fun to have around.

6. Yep. I agree. These three have now emerged as my favorites.
Kerry was number two, but not after this weekend.

I'm only working for and advocating Dean, Kucinich and Sharpton from now on.

8. I imagine
that Steve Pagones would disagree. In case that name is unfamiliar, he's the very decent man who was smeared and whose life was ruined because Sharpton decided he played an integral part in the "attack" on Tawana Brawley. Even after it was revealed that Pagones was no where near the supposed attack, even after the attack was revealed as a hoax, Sharpton did not stop. Even during the subsequent lawsuit, which Pagones won, although it took years for him to collect damages, Sharpton never admitted wrongdoing or even bloody apologized.

For me, Sharpton as comic relief in the campaign, has a real short shelf life and I am waiting for someone to call him on all this crap.

eileen from OH (Sorry, just one Sharpton-as-entertainment post over the line, Sweet Jesus.)

apologize for that fiasco even as recently as a couple of months ago when he was being interviewed on MSNBC.

10. mania
comes to mind with Dean supporters and a charismatic sort of trance...I think this is where the desperation lies....we so don't want to see this sort of blind sheepeople behavior in our camp. I admit I am desperate...to see people come to their senses.

12. It's not blind following, it's excitement that someone is running a
grassroots campaign, focusing on the people (cut to clips of Dean telling crowds "you have the power! you have the power!") and actually getting ahead because of it. I wish it was working for Kucinich too.

13. this implies that Dean supporters are not
capable of independent thought!? This is the kind of stuf that pisses alot of people off...why do you believe that you are capable of a thoughtful consideration of the candidates but people who reach alternative decisions are not....couldn't this also be thought of as sheeple behavior?

I strongly suggest that you take the time to go to the next Dean mettup (this wednesday) and check things out for yourself...and that you do this for Kucinich, Clark, and Kerry....then you can make blanket statements like that (well...no you can't really..)

15. It's not a trance...it's hope
It's also a movement more than a political campaign. When you see everything falling apart around you and you feel powerless to do anything to stop it....and then someone stirs you to your feet and convinces you that you, just one person on this planet CAN make a difference and help change things it fills you with hope and a sense of empowerment. Dean's supporters aren't "just" supporters, they ARE his campaign. The people are just as much, if not more, a part of his campaign than even he is. Howard Dean IS the people and the people ARE Howard Dean...he is one of us and his campaign never hesitates to remind us of that. We are appreciated and valued. This is OUR campaign and OUR election. And yes, this is OUR country...and we ARE going to reclaim it, come hell or highwater!

This kind of arrogance that people who dont see things your way are "blind sheepeople" and need to "come to their senses" is what I was talking about.

Thank for playing.
