My new mantra: It's not my problem
I unleashed this on someone talking about Iraq today. Man it sure angers Repugs.

Iraq falling apart? Not my problem.

What, they're starting up the draft again? Not my problem.

Spiralling defecit? Not my problem, unfortunately it's my grandchildren's problem.

Hummer too expensive to fill up? Not my problem. I'm buying a hybrid.

What, your veterans benfits just got cut again? Sorry, but it's not my problem.

Oh, your prescription drugs are too expensive? Sorry, but it's not my problem.

What is my problem...
Making sure I do all I can do to fund, work for and elect progressive democrats between now and '06. If we can do that, all of the aforementioned "problems" can be solved. Meanwhile, let the Republicans clean up their OWN shit pile.

1. Not my problem --
Yet another great slogan for a t-shirt.

I find that this is also my response to the dumb asses of America.

The truth is that these problems are NOT our problems -- there isn't a damn thing that we can do about any of these problems.

For the sake of sanity we have to focus on what we can change -- we need to support the efforts of groups and organizations working to give America real voting rights -- every vote counts and ALL votes are counted.

This is the only change that we have any hope of achieving in the near future. Any efforts to get out the vote are meaningless if the vote isn't counted. Any effort to find good people to run for office is meaningless unless they can get the votes they earn from the voters.

So some mom voted for bush and now her kid is dead or missing major chunks of his body -- not my problem -- sorry for his pain.

We have to put on a tough shield to get through the next few years -- and some of us won't live to see if democracy is ever restored in America -- because it is going to take a very long time. But right now we are powerless. bushie made it clear today that only his way is the right way -- all others -- GET LOST.

4. I've made a few Repubs sputter when I've said simply:
WAR IS NOT A FAMILY VALUE.

Also, when I hear any complaints, I'm saying, "But morals are more important, according to the American people. As long as the gays aren't able to get married, we can stand anything, right?"

Fuck them and their sick priorities. As you said, it's not my problem. I'll direct my liberal, bleeding heart to those who need it, locally. There's not a thing in the world I can do on a national scale.

6. Twenty years from now, when they're asking us
"Why didn't you stop them?"...I will not be able to say it wasn't my problem.

I don't accept that answer from elderly Germans; why would I expect anyone to accept it from me?

8. Mine expresses the same idea...but much more rudely.
"Well, at least no one got butt-fucked."

For example

Republican: "My nephew was killed in Iraq."

Me: "Well, at least no one got butt-fucked."

Republican: "My 401k is worth about half of what it was and I'm getting laid off next week."

Me: "Well, at least no one got butt-fucked."

You get the idea.

10. LOL
I like that one.

I lost my job to outsourcing, and the only job available is being a register jockey at the Wal-Mart!

"But we sure stuck it to those fags"

I lost my health benefits!

"But we sure stuck it to those fags"

9. It IS your problem. What they are going to do, even if you are
not directly affected, diminishes ALL of us!

12. I'll just paraphrase Douglas Adams and say
that the entire country is now surrounded in a massive SEP field (SEP - Somebody Elses Problem). This, in effect, renders things invisible. Because if something is not your problem, it can be safely ignored.

It's believed that if you can harness the power of an SEP field, it would make a very good cloaking device for large space vessels and the like :)

13. Unfortunately, many of these will be our problems.
Some day, we'll have to purchase overpriced prescription drugs, our children may be drafted into the service, and the federal deficit will have to be addressed in some form or another.

A more accurate phrase would be "Don't look at me. I didn't create these problems." Then put a Kerry/Edwards logo at the bottom.
