Star Wars: How much does Murdoch own
I have a wider anti-Murdoch scheme I'm working on, but I won't bring it to you just yet. In the meantime, I have a question or two...

Rupert Murdoch owns Fox, Fox owns Star Wars. But George Lucas has (or had) a significant level of control from the start of his 'little' project.

My questions:
1. Has Lucas surrendered any of that control recently?
2. When you buy a cinema ticket, a DVD or Star Wars merchandise, how much of that money goes to Murdoch?
3. How much money does Murdoch make from Star Wars annually?

Any help?

April 1998 -- Lucasfilm announces that 20th Century Fox has won the rights to release the Prequel Trilogy. Fox is rumored to receive only a small distribution fee and will not share in the box-office gross. Fox had lost the right to future Star Wars films when Rupert Murdoch bought the studio in the mid-1980's. Fox' contract with Lucas had a "key man" clause that terminated their rights to future Star Wars films if the studio were acquired by new owners.

In just one day, Tuesday, $115 million worth of Star Wars Trilogy DVDs and the LucasArts videogame Star Wars Battlefront was plucked off retail shelves worldwide, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment said Wednesday. Today's (Thursday) Daily Variety pointed out that most of the $115 million goes to Lucas's companies which pays a flat fee to Fox to distribute all the home video versions of the Star Wars movies except the original one.
