Thom Hartmann: Exit Polls Right, Tallies Wrong?
EXIT POLLS RIGHT, TALLIES WRONG?
Thom Hartmann, AlterNet

The rallying cry of the emerging "honest vote" movement must
become: Get Corporations Out of Our Vote!

http://www.alternet.org/election04/20416/

The hot story in the blogosphere is that the "erroneous" exit polls that showed Kerry carrying Florida and Ohio (among other states) weren't erroneous at all – it was the numbers produced by paperless voting machines that were wrong, and Kerry actually won. As more and more analysis is done of what may (or may not) be the most massive election fraud in the history of the world, however, it's critical that we keep the largest issue at the forefront at all time: Why are We The People allowing private, for-profit corporations, answerable only to their officers and boards of directors, and loyal only to agendas and politicians that will enhance their profitability, to handle our votes?

Maybe Florida went for Kerry, maybe for Bush. Over time – and through the efforts of some very motivated investigative reporters – we may well find out (Bev Harris of blackboxvoting.org just filed what may be the largest Freedom of Information Act
But in all the discussion about voting machines, let's never forget the concept of the commons, because this usurpation is the ultimate felony committed by conservatives this year.

At the founding of this nation, we decided that there were important places to invest our tax (then tariff) dollars, and those were the things that had to do with the overall "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" of all of us. Over time, these commons – in which we all make tax investments and for which we all hold ultimate responsibility – have come to include our police and fire services; our military and defense; our roads and skyways; our air, waters and national parks; and the safety of our food and drugs.

..more..

2. Kerry may well have won
but I don't think enough people are paying enough attention to the "Jesusland" map. New England, Atlantic Seabord, Upper Midwest and West Coast states should petition to join Canada. It would be a great nation, way greater than the one they are leaving at this point.

The military is mostly deployed overseas and I don't think there is the stomach in them to fight another civil war anyhow. The Soviet Union peacefully disintegrated and the world is better off. If God is merciful, the same thing will be allowed to take place on this continent.

3. Paper and a pen. Kerry won this election
and I hope for the sake of our country Bev is able to prove it before the inaugeration. Then get rid of the damn machines.

In 2000, Greg Palast uncovered the purged voters list BEFORE the inaugeration, nothing was done and the media wouldn't put him on the air. Gore won. NOTHING was done about it. We know the purge list was true. It was investigated and Gore won. The chimp remained in office while he shouldn't have. What will happen THIS time? Will the repukes be procecuted? Will we just go on as if nothing happened like we did in 2000? Will his ass be kicked out THIS time?

The first time in history the exit polls are wrong? Why do we seem to have a lot of "first time in history" things happen with this administration and they all favor this regime?

9. Haven't exit polls historically been correct to within 2-3%?
Isn't it odd that they've only been decried as inaccurate since 2000? If they are this unreliable, why have we been using them for 40+ years?

11. this is why I'm so pissed off at the Democratic party
They should have used every means at their disposal to ensure that these machines were NOT used in 2004.

Lawsuits, liens, whatEVER the fuck you have to do, fillibusters, I don't fucking care, it was their JOB to make sure this didn't happen and they FAILED.

fuck them forever.
