DUer research needed: Warren County Ohio
http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/11/05/loc_warrenvote05.html

Warren's vote tally walled off
Alone in Ohio, officials cited homeland security

And despite being told that there would be an area with telephones set up for the media, those who tried to get into the building on Justice Drive were stopped by a county employee who stood guard outside. After journalists challenged the restriction, reporters were allowed into the building's lobby - two floors below the elections office.

Warren gave * 66,000 votes.

Warren is home to McMansions and probably some "rangers"

The reporter at the Cincinnati Enquirer whose beat this would be is Dan Horn, dhorn@enquirer.com

He may be one of us, he did stories on the felon voting issue and answered an email I sent him praising that coverage:

2. Warren County DU reporting
What are McMansions and rangers? What were our exit polls like? I have known all along that Kerry got more that 27% in Warren I just need to know what we can do. Do they have # of votes per precinct...etc. I can go over numbers if you tell me where to get them.

4. McMansions and rangers explained
The counties that surround Cincinnati's Hamilton County are where the white flight racists moved. Their houses are called McMansions by those who abhor subdivisions and new construction. Rangers are people who raise tons of money for Bush.

Even though these areas have experienced rapid development, it is in comparison to their rural past. They are still not densely populated like the counties in Ohio that have actaul cities.

The GOP is like the mafia, corrupt. While I do not doubt that the majority of white flight suburbanite would vote Bush/Cheney I am very suspicous of the secrecy. Are the numbers padded and by how much. Were Kerry votes discarded?

8. Thanks.
I live in Lebanon in Warren County. I have been crying since Tuesday because I was here for the Gore campaign and I was here for the Kerry campaign. I was the only sign for Gore in my neighborhood, Headquarters wasn't staffed, Gore pulled out and HQ left. We got 28% of the votes. Fast forward 4 years. We had a headquarters set up in Frankilin and WIlmington in July by both the Dems and KE. We phone banked, we canvassed, we had signs galore, we had bumper stickers. We had ACT and Moveon. When we had more than 1000 volunteers we set up another headquarters in MAson. We still had to turn people away because we couln't fit any more in the building. Our GOTV effort was amazing. We had our own lawyers, we had training sessions, we had money coming in out the wazooo. Kerry signs were easily 2:1 Bush and yet we still got 28% of the votes. NO WE DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!! I am not just in denial here. We did not do the same as Gore!

9. I agree annd the closed doors to the media are very suspicous
Try calling Dan Horn to feel him out. This is something that newspaper reporters excel at.

Dan Horn
(M-F, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.) Federal agencies, courts dhorn@enquirer.com 513-768-8619

If not perhaps someone at the Dayton Daily News or Toledo Blade can help. Also the lawyer I mentioned.

14. All I know is that the Enquirer is VERY interested in selling papers
in Butler and Warren,

That was the reason for the whole Great Neighborhoods special sections they put out every 3 weeks for a 1.5 years.
