People keep talking about the Nazis, but this country seems to be drifting more into a Stalinist mentality, and there are much more similarities there. People were united by the overthrowing of the ruling class, just as people in America are united against the idea of terrorism.

Anyone suddenly deemed in opposition to the goals of the party in Stalinist Russia was "repressed" and sent to camps. I think the dynamic of this period is much more similar to what is going on here with regards to "patriotism". The "Repression" we are experiencing is vote suppression, and it is only going to get worse the more power they get.

However, I think we are lucky in that most reasonable people can see a reason for a paper ballot, and mandatory audits.
