Bush is elected, Fallujah will fall, and America is damned
By now, most of you are aware of the bloodletting that has and will take place in Fallujah. Upon election's end, I am forced to recall a parallel event in November '72, whereupon the American people refused to expel from power one of the great destroyers in history--Richard M. Nixon--and humiliated one of its most virtuous statesmen, George McGovern. Emboldened, Nixon and his vizier, one Henry Kissinger, unleashed a bombing campaign in Indochina that had no sibling in intensity.

Although I wouldn't compare Kerry to the anti-war McGovern, there was, in fact, a chance to renounce a brutal regime. America made its choice, and now exists as the Hebrew community one finds in the prophetic books of the Old Testament: savage as Moloch; greedy as Mammon. Perhaps our crimes, fomented by liberal Democrats and rightist Republicans alike, killing millions worldwide, have given us Bushco; perhaps our wretched empire deserves to fall. But now I'm filled with anger. I hate my government, I hate my brethren, and I hate myself for my impotence.

"Ah, you who make iniquitous
decrees,
who write oppressive statutes,
to turn aside the needy from justice
and to rob the poor of my people
of their right,
that widows may be your spoil,
and that you may make the
orphans your prey!
What will you do on the day of
punishment,
in the calamity that will come from
far away?
To whom will you flee for help,
and where will you leave your
wealth,
so as not to crouch among the prisoners
or fall among the slain?
For all this his anger has not turned
away;
his hand is stretched out still."
--Isaiah 10: 1-4
