Election reform
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 12:32 PM by Skinner
Because I'm sitting here in my cubicle but I can't make myself work, because I'm still stunned, angry, depressed and ready to fight, I started thinking about election reform.

My first thought was, how about changing things so that we only vote for candidates on the first Tuesday in November? No initiatives, no referendums, no school board initiatives. They can have a separate day. And how about mail - in ballots for president? Or how about letting Visa take over -- 120 million Americans voted, if we believe the stats, I bet Visa handles 120 million transactions in one day.

1. This needs to be the single most important focus for us ...
... we need standardization in proven methods, voter identification, receipts. This reform is where we need to invest efforts!

staying power. Be brave in this struggle you are having, as I am a cancer survivor. Tell your children and your husband we still have your back. We the people will have to make this a safer place to live and pick up the torch for our own well being. The Two America's
was exactly right and we folks who are not of the upper crust know how to survive. We will make the media accountable. We will make the big corporations and their lobbyists pay for their handouts and if George Bush thought the 1st four years was hard work...He ain't seen nothing yet ! We are looking forward to your posts. We need to say to you, we are proud of your ideas and proud of THK and her willingness to speak truth to power. We all are doing that now. I am a christian..a real person of faith and I will pray for your speedy recovery and some of those pulpit preachers who are pushing Bush are in for a big surprise when we demand their tax exemptions be Gone with the Wind !

BBV: Our position is that fraud took place.

Help America Audit

Our organization has taken the position that fraud took place in the 2004 election through electronic voting machines. We base this on hard evidence, documents obtained in public records requests, inside information, and other data indicative of manipulation of electronic voting systems. What we do not know is the specific scope of the fraud.

We are working now to compile the proof, based not on soft evidence -- red flags, exit polls -- but core documents obtained by Black Box Voting in the most massive Freedom of Information action in history.

We need: Lawyers to enforce public records laws. Some counties have already notified us that they plan to stonewall by delaying delivery of the records. We need citizen volunteers for a number of specific actions. We need computer security professionals willing to GO PUBLIC with formal opinions on the evidence we provide, whether or not it involves DMCA complications. We need funds to pay for copies of the evidence.

There are certainly indications that a sting, or at least an investigation, is in play right now.

Strong indications that both Florida and Ohio would be flipped if election manipulations are rolled back. Some indication that fraud may have occurred in at least 30 states.

It's okay to use the "F" word. Fraud. You can say it in public. Pretty soon, they'll be saying it on TV. If no one else does it first, I'll be saying the "F" word on TV shortly.

Fraud.

Use the word.

It's okay, you can say it.

13. ok, back to the topic at hand...
this sytem of voting run by the government seems to be a HUGE conflict of interest. we are seeing more and more how the electronic voting numbers just don't jive with what we know in terms of registered voters. where do we begin, folks? i'm fighting mad right now and i think we all are. how do we organize? how do we combat this wrong? we need to strike while the iron is hot!

32. We definately need
to make the media accountable as well as gather a list of the churches and some Veterans organizations that broke their 501
status and let them feel if it was worth pushing Bush, while they by law were supposed to remain non partisan. Our veterans organization never and we are small were partisan. As CEO I would not allow it. The bush 501's did not follow the rules, especially a group out of Florida called VietnamVeterans of Florida holding a 501 C-3 Status. All of these folks should be turned into the IRS and demanded to lose their tax exemption. Who will join me in this quest? They meaning the Bush regime has launched an investigation into the NAACP and there you go with the Two separate standards. I will not sit still for this !

You and John are inspirations my family. My wife and daughter (17) met you in Bangor at the Seadog Brewery a few weeks ago....you left a very big impression on them, especially my daughter who was motivated to coordinate the mock elections at her high school. I am so proud that you honor us here with your thoughts. I look forward to your participation in this community.

Best regards and sincerest hopes for fast and complete recovery.

30. Thank you Elizabeth!
Thank you for being such an inspiration for all of us, and the passage you chose is proof of that; it's very, very true. You, John, and John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry have been such great supporters of the causes that really matter to people, to bring our country back to what's best for all of us, and I know that your efforts will extend well beyond the campaign. I wish you the best in your own fight right now, and I know that you will overcome whatever you may face along the way. Please know that, along with the great family you have, there are so many of us out here who continue to support you.

28. Hi Mrs. Edwards!
Thank you so much for pulling for all of us! I heard your speech on C-SPAN (thank God for them!) and I marvelled at what a doer you are; what a great speech! The thing that was the best is how you stayed around and talked to the people who had shown up. That was very enlightening, and I thank you for it.

To hear after so many months of campaigning your family is suffering under the terrible threat of cancer is almost just too much to bear.
I know you will be all right in time, but it just underscored the issue of health insurance in the U.S. for me. I hope that you will be well and cancer-free soon. I know that you will have the support of your family and friends and of all of us here as well.

There was a thread going around last night about whether or not President Clinton had advised John Kerry to basically "abandon" the gay issue and that John Kerry said "I just won't do that".
Though I am not a gay person, I understand that all they are fighting for is their civil rights. Do you have anything you could offer on what happened, or even if it did happen? Most people here thought that it was very admirable of JK to answer that way, but others seemed to think that it was some kind of dis-information that was being spread around to keep us Democrats divided, or worse, to further tarnish President Clinton. But we are reeling from the shock that multitudes of people stood in the lines for hours to vote on Tuesday and find it pretty hard to believe that these were voters turning out to vote against the gays' civil rights.... and we have a problem with some of the numbers, too, as I have seen elsewhere in this thread. Can 1/2 of this country really hate the gays more than they hate this illegal war?

I do hope that our side has not left the discussion, and continues on to fight the "dark side". They say that they are "Christians" but I have a problem with that because any true Christian would not seek to do ANY of the things that they have sought to do.
I admire and respect the principles that your husband and JK stood up for... the rights of all humankind....the rights that any true Christian should fight for.

Please, when you are well, stay with us here and counsel us as to what we can do to work toward changes in this country. pResident * has offered to "reach out to those persons whose 'goals are *the same* ( !!!!!!! ) as his, but I think that was the whole point of the election, wasn't it? That we differ on basically everything.
So... more of the same! We need information on who what when where and why, and maybe some ways to get the job done. I don't for one minute think the fight is done.
Now.... BE WELL! Thank you!
