1. No, he's pissing off the fiscally conservative faction of the GOP
Let him have his spending spree -- hope he enjoys it as those who have clung to the GOP only for fiscal purposes begin to drop off like flies sprayed with RAID.

10. I don't think that's what he meant
At least, the quote I heard was something about spending "political capital". This was on one of the right-wing local shows, but they said it had something to do with the supposed "mandate"...

2. Most ironic phrase ever!
Conservative: Moderate; cautious.
Spending Spree: A brief period of extravagant spending.

9. That Is Not an Unlikely Scenario
Saddle the country with so much debt that the only way to prevent a complete and total economic meltdown is to cut services dramatically and even abolish some. In the crosshairs: Social Security, Medicare, Education, Welfare, Environment and anything else they see as "socialistic".

11. the real debt crunch is coming...
as there have been reports as of late about the increasing difficulty of selling U.S. Treasury bonds. If we can't sell the bonds, then the debt ceiling cannot effectively be raised. Then, the U.S. faces bankruptcy.

12. Shopping List: (1)privitize So.Sec. (2)spread freedom (3)tax reform/cuts
Any other ideas? Energy Bill perhaps?

The first four years spending spree: (1)Tax Cuts for Wealthy
(2)Prescription Drugs (drug co. handout).
(3)Spread Freedom (Defence Contractors).
(4)Tax Cuts for Corporations

If the government is actually bankrupt - then they can cut all social programs (the Grover Norquist plan) - but I think it's more that Bush is a spoiled rich kid who's always had family and friends to come along and bail him out of financial jams.

Who's going to bail out the US when he's driven us to bankruptcy? The IMF?
