still have a Democratic Assembly and Senate. I propose we circulate a petition to redesign an election system that is based on sound accounting principles, which means that it is double entry in nature so results can be double checked. Also, lets dump the touch screen machines. For something as important as elections, we need to do an old-fashioned hand count.

I'm okay with the scanners, but I think we should demand that the paper ballots that go into the scanner be hand counted to verify the results. This is what double entry is. No business would just accept the first balance sheet that comes from the computer without verifying the results with source documents. We need to do the same.

While we are at it, we need to institute a run-off system. This way you can vote for the candidate of your choice and two others. It keeps third party votes from being wasted.
