I had an interesting discussion today - isn't it strange that

the people who know how best to prevent terrorist attacks against our cities are rural voters and that those who know the least about preventing terrorist attacks against our cities are urban voters. Very counter-intuitive isn't it? My recitation of this argument resulted in a brief argument which went something like this:

"We should just kill all the terrorists"
"Well its all well and fine to say we should just kill all the terrorists, but..."
"Just kill them all"

Needless to say I couldn't answer this argument - mostly because he was gone before I had a chance.
I think I'm losing business for the 7-11.

Seriously, as much as it is generally accepted that most "Red Staters" are really just decent people who've been misled, the reality (in my observation) is that a great many of them are just racist jerks. We try to understand "why" they're racist jerks, but what good does that do? I don't think all Republicans/conservatives are like that, and I definitely think that there are plenty of intolerant liberals as well, but if you add up all the E.L.F terrorists and violent PETA types there is no way that they would match the number of "angry white males" that the GOP caters to.

That is where that conversation would eventually go if you had stuck with it. I can not stress this point enough. It's a direct connection. Most middle, lower middle class and poor Republicans are racist.

One thing about being white and a gearhead is that it takes about five minutes for a stranger at a car show, racetrack, parts store or a junkyard to feel comfortable enough with you to insult a race or gender, as though you will automatically agree. It's just that fast. They are just that hateful.
