I found out on Tuesday that I have a relative in Fallujah
Not a blood relative-from my stepfather's side of the family but still family none the less. I haven't seen this "kid" in a few years but he always was a nice young man. He is third generation Marine. They offered him White House duty and he turned it down (my stepfather was beside himself "Think of all the WOMEN" he said) and signed up for Forced Recon-really gungho stuff.

My mom told me this Tuesday morning.

1. I have a friend in Iraq.

He's an army ammunition supply specialist somewhere north of Baghdad. He's home on leave and stopped by my office today. I gave him a big hug and told him to stay safe. He's always on the base except for brief forays to a nearby airfield. He supposed to come back to the states in 2 1/2/ months. I hope that's true.

4. I hope that he stays safe.
My friend isn't in a combat zone. He does not have any contact with any Iraqis except for a few civilian contract workers. He said that he does not trust them. There have been drive by shootings outside of the base. He suspects it was one of the the civilian workers. Scary.
