I shut up a gloater today

on an IRC news channel I co moderate.

I asked her how it felt to win by cheating, since I'd never had to cheat in my life.

I asked her if it felt anything like buying a Tiffany lamp for $25 from an old woman who was living on cat food.

She shut up.

I am posting this because it seems to have worked very well. If you must talk to a gloater, this might be a good tactic. They know they cheated, even if they won't admit it to us.

Cheaters win only temporarily. They don't win longterm because they are incapable of doing anything but cheating. There are no skills for them to use.

And it's humiliating as hell to know the only way you can win is by cheating.
