Reverend Al discusses election in the O'Falafel Zone

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,137655,00.html

O'REILLY: I don't know, but without the blacks' increase, Kerry loses by a landslide. So black voters kept Kerry in the game. But the point of the matter is that Kerry lost decisively and the Democrats lost decisively in both Houses. And there has got to be a reason why.

SHARPTON: I think a lot of it is that we have got to identify with our base, working-class people. If there's anything that I would say early in the analysis is that we cannot continue to write off middle-class and lower-class working whites.

O'REILLY: But Kerry promised the moon. He promised every entitlement, he promised health care, expansion of government, expansion of welfare benefits. Everything that it seems Democratic voters want, he promised. More jobs.

SHARPTON: Well, I don't know that — Kerry himself I think was — did a good job. I think a lot of it is how the party operates and the message and how it's focused. I think that we should do things like put initiatives on the ballot, like the right wing did. They were very good, even though I disagree with them.

1. I love Sharpton.
He really won me over during the primaries. Sure, I was a Dean man and I knew that Sharpton would never have a true shot, but damn does that man have a pair on him.

He was also hilarious on The Daily Show Tuesday night. Even when I was starting to get really worried about the results, he could make me laugh.

2. Me too.
My "God, he's great" moment came in one of the primary debates. The question came up "Was the war wrong" or something like that.

They went around to Clark, Dean, Kerry, etc. and they all sadi various forms of "Yes, but..." and rambled on for their full alloted time. They got to Sharpton and he said "Yes, it was wrong. And it was stupid too." And that was it. There was this awkward silence while the mods thought he was going to continue and he just shut up.

I was reminded of that in the second debate when Bush was asked "List three things you messed up" and when Kerry responded, we all knew what he should do: say three sentences, one for each Bush mistake and then sit his happy ass down (SNL even parodied this in a sketch that weekend). Everyone in the room knew this was the best thing to do. But instead, we got the full time-allotment answer.

And I said to myself "Damn, if that had been Sharpton, he not only would he have gotten it right, the last sentence would have verbally eviscerated Bush to the point where he would have cried."

I sure hope he doesn't fade away, because he is a HAMMER for our side.
