When Are We Going To Get Serious?
I've been reading these threads all day now and there are very few that offer any ideas as to how to proceed now. I mean constructive ideas, not name calling and being "Monday Morning" quarterbacks.

Come on folks, we can do better than this! It's time to get together and get serious about a plan for 4 years from now or impeachment.

1. This was an enormous hit
give it a few more days and things will get organized. I have seen many constuctive ideas but right now it's wait and see too. There has to be some healing first.

4. Impeachment? Are you totally detached from reality?
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 02:28 PM by PSU84
The Republicans control both the House and Senate. There isn't even going to be basic oversight of Bush, much less "impeachment."

You want a constructive idea? Go to a bookstore - or your public library - and get a book on American Government. You need to understand how it works if you want to fix it.

5. thanks for the reality check, sudie
but we are all so brain-dead right now. I volunteerd for the campaign and registered voters for months now, I'm so exhausted and miserable any good ideas from my own head aren't going to materialize for about another week or so. Let us recover, dear, and we'll get back to you. By the way, those who still have a shred of sanity have been floating some good ideas around, let's look into them and start making them happen.

9. I Agree Gennifer6
But I'm so angry and anxious to get started with others on constructive ideas.

And please, to the previous poster, please stop the name calling. I'm on your side. Probably more than you know.

7. Impeachment is possible
Too many moderate Republicans...how long do you think Bushy can keep up the charade before his own moderates start to wonder if he's lost it? They love him now because reality hasn't hit their doorstep yet, they still have all their money and their children aren't being drafted. when it starts to affect them and their self-centered constituents, they'll start preaching the "i" word...
damn flip-floppers

10. Hooray, Sudie!!
If my ass wasn't dragging a few feet behind me I would probably be anxiuos to get the fight back on, too.....I can certainly sympathize with you as you wait for us Prozacs to recover.
AND we don't have much time, either. If we wait too long we run the risk of becoming "background noise"
an FYI for you, though, anything constructive we do has to be passed around carefully, I just had a friend point out that one of my ideas was grand, but if we posted it, word would get back to the Repunks and it could be foiled.

11. It depends on the meaning of the word "Get"
From what I read and see, we've been dead serious for four years. Very serious. Serious enough to work our asses off to register people and to talk to everyone about the importance of voting for change. Serious enough to get AAR up and running. Serious enough to write the editor of our newspaper, to write our representatives and to take to the streets in protest.

We need to start a "Solutions" thread that lays out in straightforward terms what we hope to accomplish and what it will cost; a clear, sober assessment of our hopes, dreams and desires coupled to financial reality.

12. okay . . . here's one . . .
we have to either get rid of touchscreen voting machines, or ensure that the all have paper receipts that are collected and held for recounts . . . and that 5% of all machines are randomly recounted regardless of the vote margin . . . as a reliability check . . .

the Republican Congress will never do anything about this, so it has to be done at the state level . . . voting is a state function anyhow . . . therefore, we need 50 organizations (or one organization with 50 branches) to start working on each state legislature . . . we should begin now with the goal of having the problem resolved in time for the 2006 elections . . .

or something like that . . .

13. Please, Look At My Thread About Barry Fisher
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 02:58 PM by SudieJD
I'm going to contact him and see if he has any ideas. I'm sure that he's already looking into this and has been contacted by others. He helped me once to get the media to stop using "Gyspy" stories against my people, the Roma in Michgian.
