Here's The One Word That Proves Karl Rove Is No Genius:
Landslide.

Why?

Because he's never won one.

Why?

Because Karl Rove doesn't understand basic arithmetic: You get more by adding and multiplying than by subtracting and dividing.

Karl Rove, deep in his insecure heart, knows that his place in American History will be as a Divider. He won anemic presidential victories (one by judicial intervention and the other by an electoral squeaker) by his politics of division.

From Karl Rove's early days of working with Lee Atwater using the ugly wedge issue of race to his current fixation with gay-baiting and fear mongering, Rove has his role now in our nation's history as a divider.

But, this self-proclaimed "genius" can not claim a landslide.

Republican Ronald Reagan had two landslides.

Republican Richard Nixon had his landslides.

But, Karl Rove...no landslide.

Eat your heart out Karl Rove. No landslide. Some genius.

1. His genius is that he managed to get a failed incumbent
reelected. We should've won this one. Bush was vulnerable.

2. His genius is that the vote machine companies and the media are owned by
the right wing, and his is the right wing candidate.
If we were right wingers we'd be all be "geniuses" too.

3. Bill Clinton said it best--"They can only win by dividing us"
Rove is just the latest in superprofessional RepuKKKe dividers. Maybe, he'll have a deathbed conversion like Lee Atwater.

4. I'm Certain That Rove, Like Atwater, Knows That He's a Weasel.
No landslide for Karl Rove. Nope.

Landslides require talent beyond Rove's reach.

6. If he had a leftist candidate up against the right juggernaut and won
THEN I'd call him a genius. Otherwise, he's just another tool playing in a game where his team owns the umpire.

7. Yep.
He's no genius. Your point is a good one.

Karl's forever in the no-landslider catagory.

8. At the risk of sounding cliched,
Karl Rove has reaped the storm and he shall sow the whirlwind.

10. Point being?
Are we supposed to feel smug and satisfied now? I'm sure Rove doesn't care if he's called "genius" as long as he's called "winner."

11. His Best (Worst) Can Only Deliver 50% of the Population.
He's topped out. That's a silver lining.

He had the incumbency. He had the media. He had the church registers (Protestant and Catholic). He had unprecedented money. He had a war and he had a bogeyman (terrorism).

But, even with all of that, his politics of division can only deliver 50%.

Should McCain (who was savaged by him in 2000) or anyone else pick him up for 2004, they will be straddled with a man who has hit his high water mark.

He's not an election genius.

12. I think we're just about ready to settle for a strategist
who can deliver those 51% to our side. I'd call him a genius, too.

Winning a landslide does not confer any advantages. OTC, you'd just be certain to piss off more of your voters afterwards.
