What the rest of the world thinks about us electing Bush. They're ecstatic
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3983079.stm

A few choice quotes:

What is evident from the results of the election is that half of the American population are easily manipulated. Their intellectual poverty favoured Bush.
Paloma Morfín, Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico

It is indeed unfortunate that George Bush has been re-elected at such a crucial juncture in the history of the world.
Ramesh Koranga, Germany

I hope he brings peace and reconciles with all his enemies. I also hope that he stops creating wars.
Jeronimo Zandamela, Maputo, Mozambique

And now, my FAVORITE one:

Bush's victory has made the world quite clear. It is all of us now, Europe, Africa, and Asia, against them.

Irgi, Jakarta, Indonesia

3. That last one is the part Americans don't get
It's the old Roman analogy. We can break any country in the world, but we can't break every country.

Repubs just don't understand how interdependent it is. If they shut us down, if they fear us enough to embargo us, to shut off our oil supply, to stop buying our products, how long do we have? We are on life support, as are all nations, and the world has its hand on the plug. And we are taunting them to pull it.

I have two small children, but I'm at the point where I think they should pull it. It was a great political and social experiment while it lasted, but the Republic of the US has been on life support since December 12th, 2000. We are brain dead, the brain transplant failed, and now we are just flailing around waiting for our relatives to pull the plug.

RIP America. it was a good run.

4. It's painful, but we deserve it.
Well, not necessarily me, but "we" as a country. America will get what is coming to it, in both domestic and foreign policy.

There's a Bush supporter in my class who is visiting Spain and France this summer. I simply told her to say she was Canadian.

6. Indonesia is the one that bothers me the most. IIRC Indonesia has
the largest population of Muslims in the world. If they turn against us it is bad news.

Unfortunately, this is why Bush is pushing for tactical nukes, so he can drop them in MORE places throughout the region to make the Muslims knuckle under in fear.

9. GEE, Dubya, THANKS!
Unfortunately the average freeper doesn't care about what the world thinks and actually wears that arrogance as a badge of honor.

12. Will they put their money where there mouths are?
If they really find the Bushies so abhorrent, will some of them offer us asylum before they, as someone put it, pull the plug? ( I assume the plug means calling in the loans.) I'm asking because I looked into leaving the country last year, and it's not as easy as it sounds.

Canada? Anyone?

13. I grew up in Indonesia...
Indonesians are very kind, moderate Muslims (the vast majority are Muslims, that is). Even with rampant poverty, I never felt like I needed to be afraid for my safety (not counting the May Riots, of course). If there's any country that we could use to gauge our image in the "Moderate Muslim World," it's Indonesia. My father's buried there. Now, thanks to the Chimp, I'd be afraid of getting shot if I visited there.
