I don't think I need to PM you the fact that most of us are socially liberal... and have been voting Democratic for a long, long time.

10. 25% of Jewish voters voted for the Chimp. I've written this is another |
|
thread or two. Some voted because of the religious school vouchers. Others have a fucked up view that the war in Iraq is good for Israel (that's one point of view I personally do not agree with). This Jewish girl from a red state does not understand how anyone with a brain, regardless of religion, could vote for the Chimp...but here we are.
I just thought of something...my birthstone is sapphire...I was meant to be a Dem!

Wat do u mean why? Cuz most American Jews are NOT LIKUD RIGHT ISRAELI FIRSTERS who want to be buddy buddy with the Christian Right.
The majority of American Jews who are part of the Reform movement are powerless within the Jewish Diaspora similiar to the moderates of the Muslim world who have been sidedlined by radicals with the help of the Christian Right who need them as enemy.
I highly recommend you research Allen Brownfeld, of Washington, DC, to see where reform Judaism came from, where it has been, and hopefully where it will return too.

we believe in freedom of religion because we've been persecuted in so many countries. Dems are brought up to be liberal dems in terms of economic policy as well.

I'm a new voter, so I'm new to this whole "Demographics" thing And I knew that the Jewish Vote and African American Vote was heavy democrat, and the media had me worried that it was in jepordy and therefore so was Kerry.
I didn't know the history and the present thinking. And I ain't about to look it up in "the media" lol. Why not just get it from the source. Thanks.

20. That particular message was untrue... |
|
the basic idea is that Jews are a monolithic voting bloc that will lend its faithful support to whichever party capitulates more to the Government of Israel.
Because of a small number of Democratic politicians standing up to that particular government, it was claimed that the "Jewish vote" was in danger.
Since most Jews don't base their vote on Israel/Palestine, and of those who do not all are fanatic Sharon supporters, this claim was and is nonsense.

because I care about preserving the environment because I believe in the sanctity of our lives and others' lives because I believe Kerry is more honest than * and has a good heart because * and his administration operate in a crony-centered, moral vacuum and are callous about others' interests because I believe in governmental accountability and transparency because I believe we should do more to lift up the weak and the poor basically, you name it, * takes the heartless position and Kerry shows character.

Roughly translated, "Heal the World."
We vote progressive because we are commanded to help heal the world... and it's readily apparent that C-Plus Augustus is NOT the man for that particular job... in fact, he's one of those from whom the world needs saving... and healing.
Senator Kerry may not have been my first choice, but he was certainly the best chance we had. Now, I fear not only for my country, but for mankind.

Everyone in America who considers themselves a Jew, Christian, or Muslim of the modern age needs to realize that their respective religions have been hijacked by right theocratic politically facist elements that are in cahoots WITH each other to ultimately beat each other to the punch after it has all been drank. We are in fact the punch they are drinking.
Sadly, these rightists are winning on all accounts by silencing the moderate majority (reform Jews, Episcopalians, Catholics, moderate Muslims, etc.) Also the right has done a very good job of making sure that the moderates, who are the majority of their respective diasporas, do not come together in business, family and politics.
This is what must be overcome if the American western world is to be saved....i have a secret word for it...I don't like to share it..cuz it means alot to me....and I know once let out it will ..well gain momentum and for all I know be hijacked too... but the time is now right...........
SOTAT = SICK OF THE ABRAHAMIC TRADITION
American Reform Jews need to take head on their currently all powerfull Israeli First American counterparts, and by the same token normal Christians need to prepare to smack the South again. Moderate Muslims across the world need to see the above happen in America to know there is a glimmer of hope in America which is and will remain the most powerfull nation on earth for sometime...while they attempt to battle ancient dogmas in their currently reggressing societies which is in the interest of the Christian and Jewish Right. Thus we must lead...and attract the masses....with a better more appealling future...... than scare and dominate them as is being done now.
It is up to us...

19. I think that Bush is bad for Israel |
|
This policy of pre-emption is actually going to make the situation worse for Israel, not better. The US and Israel are viewed as one entity in the Muslim world, and any crimes commited by one, will be associated with the other. There will be no way to even think about a peace plan between Israel and Palestine as long as Bush is bombing Muslims.

Not all Jews are ardent supporters of the puppet Sharon. There is a way to achieve peace between Isreal and Palistine but not while people like Sharon and Bush are pulling the strings. I wish I had a link to the site with the Israeli soldiers who were nominated for a Nobel Peace prize because they refused to go and kill any more Palistinians, claiming that they are happy to fight for the security of Israel but what they were doing was no such thing. Kinda like our troops are fighting for our security in Iraq...

24. I'm not religious, but |
|
I'm born into the tribe. Being an atheist used to give me problems with my Jewish identity. Clarity came when I read Isaac Asimov's books on the Bible.
I realized that culturally, and by choice of breakfast food, I'm definitely Jewish. And that when they come for the Jews, they'll take me regardless of my religious beliefs. I think every Jew gets to absorb that little paranoia; it's part of the heritage.
I'm not a Zionist, because I don't support theocracies. But I don't wish any harm on Israel either. Jews have a tradition of intellectualism and progressivism. I follow in that sense.
About this election, it's easy. I hate Nazis. Even Jewish Nazis. Bush is a Nazi and the Neocons are collaborators. They are a perverted bunch. Remember. Jesus was Jewish, and his teachings reflected the highest ethics of the Jews of his day. I suspect though that they are consistent with any civilized society.
Colloquially, good Jews are like the good Christians we talk about so much here. What it means is a good person. I get into some arguments here because I reject the superstition.
But being a good person is inconsistent with voting for Bush.

I am offended by your post. Jews have always voted with the Democrats in approximately this exact proportion, and I don't see why that need ever change. The fact that you are surprised simply demonstrates the perverse fact that there are still constant falsehoods about the motivations and reality of Jewish people. In my opinion, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Show one fucking shred of evidence that Jews were ever going to vote for Bush in any significant numbers.

Much of this post does seem to have an unfortunate anti-Judaic implication. If there is a constructive idea to put forth, please try rephrasing or saving it for another time.
