Wait isn't Bush suppoased to have good advisors?

We all know Bush is a politician, not a smart person and that's why he has advisors. But what I'm wondering is if his advisors are as dumb as him or he just doesn't listen.

I began reading "The Reagan Experiment" the other day, and although I didn't care to get very far into it because I'd rather a book that tells the outcome than predicts the outcome (the book was written in 1981) it made some great points. First of all, Ronald Reagan's policies were literally an experiment something that hadn't been done before. It's obvious that when trying something new there will be some failures. What I don't understand is why Bush's advisors aren't telling him to learn from the successes and failures that the grandfather of modern conservatism made instead of doing what he is doing now which is basically copying what he did and even doing more in the areas that Ronald Reagan failed in. Since the 2002 election Bush approval rating has dropped from 77% I belive to just a bare majority. We all know that this amongst other things is largely due to the economy. Ronald Reagan learned that giving tax cuts away to millionaires doesn't do shit while using money to help businesses invest and expand does. Either Bush's advisors are just as dumb as he is or Carl Rove isn't running the show as much as we like to think he is.

1. Too stupid to know the difference

Never hire a dumb leader. If they're stupid, how can they know if the advisor they choose is smart or not? Bush just hires advisors that tell him he's great, it's the criteria he can base a decision on.

He's just smart enough to let his father tell him who he needs to pick to be his advisors. Guess I'm wrong.

3. Because it wasn't an experiment....

It was a conscious effort to undo the programs of the New Deal and the Great Society. The only thing experimental about it was the bullshit the Reaganites slung around, trying to pass off their intentions as economically sound theory.

Junior is doing the same damned thing--only a helluva lot faster.

As far as the tax cuts and Junior's popularity, ask his real constituency what they think of him--they love him. It's the rest of us, who don't count to him one whit, that have a problem with this rape of the budget and the country.

5. As far as undoing the New Deal and Great Society

Wouldn't the negative effects of all that have been done by Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford? If I'm not mistaken the 1970's is when we began to have serious problems with schools, healthcare, etc. While I won't say that Ronald Reagen didn't do some of those things I think that part of it was for the better as well as part of it was for the worse.
