Al Franken on Barbara Bush

I just finished Franken's book today and the chapter on Barbara Bush just made my day. It confirms many of the things that have been said on this board about her.

Understand. This was absolutely universal. And not always said in an unadmiring way. "She's the enforcer." "Barbara's the tough one." "She's mean, but she keeps everyone in line."

But another, even more interesting insight came from everyone who knew the Bushes. They all agreed. "Dubya is her son." He's mean...

It's because he's his mother's son. I think he's mean. I think we're all too ready to blame Karl Rove or Dick Cheney, or Ari Fleischer or Donald Rumsfeld or John Ashcroft when this administration does something despicable...But it's really Bush."

7. I'm almost finished

with the Al Franken book and I agree....I always thought that woman had a mean streak and Franken just verified it for me. I also loved the chapter on the Bob Jones University! Priceless! The correspondence dinner was a riot too! :-) I highly recommend the book! It's an awesome read. Al Franken has a lot of chutzpa and I thank him for it. We need more people like him.

8. Finished his book yesterday, that part really made me think b/c

I to blame dumsfeld, cheney, rove et al. So I thought about what he wrote but still if not so smart evil is surrounded by smart evil, it's hard for me to cast that vote. Also Still think blocks need to tumble in the proper order.

show's in their faces. She may have been a handsome woman back in the day, but all the lines point to 'mean'. I think that is what people are pointing out here. Both her and poppy, and now their son, have the ravaged faces of not-so-nice human beings.

I think, sometimes, he might just be a Reagan/Bush brainwashed drone. Who is lied to by his administration, has faith in the policies he signs, and thinks he is doing the right thing. He is THAT stupid!
