07.21.04: "If we do not suppress the Detroit vote..."
"If we do not suppress the Detroit vote, we're going to have a tough time in this election."

State Rep. John Pappageorge, R-Troy

Read all about the old fascists comments here.

True, Kerry won Michigan, but I think that the comment pretty well sums up what happened this last week. The fact that electric voting machine companies are mostly a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party, and were likely used in highly anti-Democratic ways, is ugly BUT the Repukes still subscribe to the oldest trick in the book, suppress the vote of those that are likely to oppose you.

I guess that the Bushites don't take the The Voting Rights Act of 1965 seriously? Also that "spoilage" issue falls into the "suppression" camp IMO as well.

We've been suppressed.

I suppose that question that follows is "Now that we know, what are we going to do about it?"

Stay the course?

2. They tried
to suppress the vote in Grand Rapids as well. They placed intimidating repug challengers in every one of our African American precincts. We fought back...yes we did...with lawyers and teams of volunteers to encourage those in the long lines not to give up. Thank you, thank you to all the Grand Rapids area lawyers who stood up to intimidation and made sure every eligible voter, despite their skin color, was allowed to cast their vote.

Dem party gained over 4.2% in votes since 2000 in Grand Rapids...despite the underhanded tactics of the red Kool Aid drinkers.

3. Here in St. Louis...
...repug 'poll watchers' (little blonde uber-ditzes) were challenging Bosnians and african-americans, many who were first-time voters or irregular voters, and turned away discouraged...
