Remember NIXON was reelected for a second term too!! |

We were in a similar state of shock back then (though we still had Congress). That happened during a controversial war too. Things really have to start getting better - I just know people in this country do not want to live in a one-party state. They didn't like it when it was all Dems, and they won't like it this time when it's a Republicans. I remember how difficult it was at times when we had to constantly defend the castle from attack. Give it time...

1. That is what my Mom said this reminds her of too. We need some |
|
good investigative journalists or a Congress that won't just roll over - I won't hold my breath.

3. Yeah, I was only 11, but I remeber how PISSED my parents were. |

They were in TOTAL SHOCK! Things haven't changed much at all in this country. It really is the candidate - get a better candidate with the right credentials and our team will win next time.

If we find a motive for the Bush administration to mail the National Enquirer anthrax, we can go at a conspiracy between Bush and the Anthrax scare of 2001. If an administration figure was behind that they would have resign or be removed by the Congress.

Bush ain't getting impeached. Only the House can bring impeachement and that ain't gonig to happen when they have a 30+ seat majority and only 40 seats are somewhat competitive every election.
We're not getting congress back for, at the least, another 10 years.
Our hope lies in the Senate, and that itself will take 4-6 years, if we're lucky.

12. We hit EVERY pug seat |
|
EVERY one. No running weak candidates in repug districts because that person is a moderate or popular.
There is no such thing as a moderate Republican anymore. Give them NO quarter.

13. Vietnam was much worse than Iraq is now. I can't believe anyone who |
|
lived through Vietnam would want to put another generation through the same thing. Maybe they haven't come to terms with their feelings of defeat from the Vietnam withdrawal. A guy I work with was a tunnel rat in Nam. I told him that the ones who support this war should be the ones fighting it and he said they are. The soldiers are doing what they want to do. Am I blind?

6. I remember I voted for Nixon because he clearly promised to end |
|
the war. I hated him, but not as much as I hate Bush.

We now have laws in place (Patriot Act) that can be used to shut down dissent. We have a media almost completely in the hands of a few corporations. We have a Republican Party in the hands of right-wing radicals. Absolutely no comparison between the two.

14. There are significant |

differences. There are significant similarities. I don't think the original post implied it was the exact same situation.

15. But Bush wasn't. He was NOT duly elected the first time- |
|
which raises the question, to which I am not sure of the answer, of whether he was legitimately elected this time.
