TuVote sitting on sideline for election

Athan Gibbs had hoped the software he created to ensure that every vote counted would be in use well in advance of Tuesday's presidential election.
Instead, TruVote International is dormant as a business.

This article is discouraging and encouraging at the same time... it seems as if they need money and leadership after they sort out the ownership issues of who owns the technology...<snip>
TruVote is in discussions with a candidate for its president's position, while seeking additional funding, Hoskins said. He attributes delays in part to sorting out ownership of TruVote with Gibbs' estate. Gibbs' family and Florida neurologist Manley Kilgore are the company's largest shareholders.

I hope a progressive investor(s) moves on this before TruVote is bought out by one of the larger repug-friendly corporations, and buried for all time...This part is very encouraging. Once TruVote gets their financing and leadership in place, they will be a serious contender in the e-vote industry. Working on a local level, we can lobby at the state level to demand verified voting and suggest that our local legislators seriously consider the TruVote system.<snip>
After hiring a president and testing updated software, TruVote still plans to bid on state contracts, Hoskins said. But the company must compete with other players, large and small, in the electronic voting arena. Registrars of voters often prefer to deal with larger, more established players, said David Dill, a Stanford University computer science professor who studies the field.
"It just takes a long time to break into the business," Dill said. "In the next few years, we're going to have to (hash) out the electronic voting question. If, for example, legislatures were to require voter-verified printouts, then it could enhance the prospects for vendors with paper ballot printers."

Thanks to the above posters for pointing out the TruVote system to me... I believe that e-voter fraud is a serious problem for us progressives, but if we cannot offer a comprehensive and credible solution to the status quo, local officials will continue to lean towards Diebold, ES&S, and others. TruVote is the answer, IMO. Thanks again! :hi:
