My e mail to Nancy Pelosi |

I am writing to implore you and all Democrats to stand up for the rights of working Americans. Please do not cave into the corporate media's lie that Bush and the Republicans have some sort of mandate because that simply is not true. Karl Rove, like his mentor Lee Atwater in 1988, ran a presidential campaign based on fear and hatred of the other, in this case terrorists and gays and lesbians. Not all Americans gave into their fears. Almost as many Americans voted for the candidate of hope, John Kerry, as those who voted for the candidate of fear, Bush. Take a look at New York City, which was DIRECTLY hit on 9/11, not even they gave into fear.
I hope that the Democrats will not repeat the mistakes of the first Bush administration and roll over for the Republicans. They truly are not interested in working with anyone who does no march lockstep with their radical agenda. Working class Americans cannot afford the Republican agenda and look to the Democrats as their defenders.
We need to write letters to the Dem leaders to let them know not only do we have their back but we expect them NOT to cave into extremist Republican demands for bipartisanship. This is where the right-wing is effective. They hold their people accountable.

1. I would have changed one sentence |

I would have said:
More Americans voted for the candidate of hope, John Kerry, (than) those who voted for the candidate of fear, Bush; however the election was stolen from us by rigged votiing machines.
Then I would include some of the graphs we have seen about the exit polls and actual results.

She's pretty tough, but with our minority in the House it makes it almost impossible for her to do much. Even in a minority Senate you can still try to obstruct some of his agenda, but the House is hopeless. I don't envy her in the next session - what an exercise in frustration that's bound to be.

Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Leadership would STOP saying things like "We stand with the President, blah, blah, blah."
What I'd like to hear is, "Mr. President, we stand with the American people and we vow to fight against any policies you propose which are not in the best interest of the American people."
Or some such.
