Stop spending tourism dollars in the Red States |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 04:03 PM by nine30
Those assholes thrive on tourism money. Granted they have some spectacular scenery (UT, WY) but so does California. The Blue states supporting the Red States is almost like the US(meaning the Blue states) sending foreign aid to some of the impoverished African nations. Lets see how they can survive without us. They have practically no industry, education, skills or culture, other than Jesus.
Also I keep hearing that the Blue States have to be respectful of the "values" of the Red States in order to win. Why the FUCK ???? Its time THEY started showing some respect for OUR values. I am tired of this blackmailing Bullshit.

2. As someone who lives in a red state I agree. We need to build |
|
a alternative business structure- instead of worrying about boycotts. But you need to pull as much money out of red states as you can.

3. Has anyone started a website devoted to this? |
|
As a lazy person, I woudl love a central website that tells me where I can and can't spend my few bucks, not only in tourism but also in the foods I eat, the clothes I wear, etc. As it is, right now Im planning to spend my next vacation in Canada, and only wear clothes I knit myself.

4. Good ideas. About fifty years ago France was beginning to |
|
experience a drop off in tourism that was traceable to the fact that while the French were glad to take the tourist's money, they were at the same time being very rude and unwelcoming. After the French gvt. figured out what the problem was, they started educational project to persuade public people who came into contact with tourist to be more hospitable. It worked. The tourism increased.
My point is that when the money flow ebbed, the French got wise and changed their ways. If the blue states could actually carry out an effective tourism boycott of the red states, and the red states realized what was happening, they might reconsider some of their overbearing arrogance. It's a long shot. But, why not give it a try?

5. Another red stater in support of this. |
|
Also, to those of you who aren't aware, Maricopa County charges a local tax on all hotel rooms and rental cars that was passed to help pay for the Cardinal's stadium. They want the stadium, but they're too cheap to pay for it themselves, so they decided to hand the bill over to our tourists. So much for self-sufficiency! :grr:
