Strange, Interesting New Thought... "Moral Values"TM AND Fraud?
What if the States is filled to the brim with stupid fundamentalist Christians (certainly true), silly undecided people, clueless pseudo-poloticos who voted Bush back in so he could "fix his mess" and wedge-issue voters AND..... drumroll the election was in some respects fraudulent?

Rendering the imaginary boundary between the "FRAUD FRAUD" crowd and the "TARD TARD" crowd irrelevant?

Of course, there will always be people who want to DO things and, uh, this a thing so let's do it. When actually 2 things have to be done. Or more.

Do you prefer the top or bottom blade on a pair of scissors?

Me, I think it's the top blade that does the cutting. Those bottom blade freaks scare me... Are you with me or against me?

:tinfoilhat: :scared:

2. The bottom blade actually does the real cutting
the top applies pressure.

But realistically I had a problem reading your post.

3. not exactly an original thought
though with all the threads the voices in the middle could be overlooked. It's not like the election was a landslide, it was close, the GOP knew this, we all knew this, they only needed to mess with the votes enough to make * appear to be the winner, but not too much so that it would seem more legit. what I mean is, if they have the ability to tamper with votes why not make it a landslide to make a point about the "mandate" and "will of the people"? they could if they wanted to, but probably figured it was safer to mess with just enough to tip the balance-which is why FL and OH were messed with the most, and very close states, such as NV. no doubt there's a hell of a lot of fundies, homophobes, rednecks, what-have-yous out there, but probably not more than 4 years ago, they just came out more for whatever reason-the election could have been a landslide for Kerry, we don't know, but it's not like there's more fundies than ever, unless maybe the 12 step folks are recruiting heavily and there are more born agains (nothing against 12 step programs, but it is a factor I would think)

5. Yes
I can think of several problems with creating a fake landslide:

1. There is the danger that would look much more obviously like fraud. Settling for tipping it just a bit might be the better gamble. All he had to do was win and ignore the left, like he did last time. He accomplished a lot for the right in 4 years without getting a landslide, why risk a freakish result which is going to be more difficult to defend?

2. Possibly it's actually much more difficult to pull off with bipartisan efforts at poll-watching going on everywhere.

3. He needs the Democrats. Without a reasonably large yet utterly neutered left-leaning faction, i.e. the Democrats and progessive movement, constantly irritating the fundies with secularism, fiscal conservatives with the threat of high taxes and so on it would

a) be difficult to hold his party together under a big umbrella through fear, (they'd start sniping at each other rather than a tiny minority of "irrelevant" lefties)

and

b) be difficult to pull the wool over the eyes of more moderate conservatives and swing voters who might get less edgy around "flaming liberals" and be a bit more critical (carping Democrats will take up all their brain-time)

Okay. All a bit intricate, and possibly far-fetched and not necessarily all his own work...

6. And you're right

It's not original at all. I was being a leetle bit sarcastic. Perhaps I was being a bit unhelpful...
