Omaha Steaks - Non Political |
|
In contacting the suppliers I routinely engage, I now have asked them the percentage of donations they make to each party. If they are Republican leaning I have told them I will no longer be a customer because of their support of a man who is threatening this country's rights and sending its kids to die for imperialism. Extreme? Perhaps but that's how I feel.
I live in a completely red state and can't purchase meats without buying from Republican companies.
Omaha Steaks replied that they made no political contributions and support non-profit health organizations and the arts in the areas they are active. I told them to expect my orders to continue and increase.
I'd rather purchase meats (they have many other products also, by mail) than contribute to Republican companies.
Omaha Steaks products are superior and reasonable. They have a web site.

2. Expect several people to chime in and say that you can't buy from them |
|
because they're in a red state. Seems that many DUers want to boycott entire states based solely on their color on a map.
I commend your research. In addition to their contributions to various communities, Omaha Steaks is also a fairly progressive company to work for. I know numerous people who've worked there and been very happy with the work experience.

I'm beginning to realize how Union supporters in Dixie felt in 1861. Missouri was uninhabitable in that time frame.

12. Agreed. Targeting certain companies is a great idea. |
|
Targeting entire states just isn't sensible.

Their latest ad is 10 rib eyes for $95. One inch thick. In addition they wheel and deal. You can contact them and make your own deals. They are a good company to deal with.

6. I have purchased from Omaha Steaks. |
|
But I wait for the half price sales because their normal prices are too high. I like them because the steaks are excellent. Whenever, there was a problem, they promptly fixed it. My mom complained about a steak gift I sent her and Omaha replaced it right away. Once Omaha sent a large order to our previous address (don't know if it was my mistake) but they replaced it with no questions asked.
As to the red state issue, as far as I know, practically all USA beef is raised in red states except for Illinois unless you count dairy byproducts.

9. Because I am vegetarian, I will not be purchasing |
|
from Omaha Steaks. But it is good to know that they are a non-partisan company even if they do cater to carnivores.

14. very admirable, but i'm a lot more concerned about |
|
a rancher's ethics towards the land and the animals. i don't know for sure but i'd be willing to bet these guy's are GOPosse members, but i can still respect 'em. Painted Hill's Natural Beefthey're a co-op of ranchers here in oregon with a quality product.

in the USA...let's try to support our own products from small independents and trash the "multinationals." Here's the link: starts with SC but let's expand it! Add your state. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=177x409

I'm glad they don't support Republicans, it would really hurt my tailgate menus at the Eagles games.
