Do people here support this?
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 09:36 PM by The Sheik

Look, I know it looks like a good idea, but if you ask me, its just going to create problems.

As much as we are driven nuts by red state republicans, liberals tend to be spread out across America while conservatives are located in certain areas. If we were to divide us many liberals would be stuck in "Jesusland" and would be forced to live in a decaying fundamentalist society. Sure, they might be allowed to leave, but what would they do when they arrive in the USC? They wouldn't have a job or any type of income. It would just be a bad situation to be in.

This would also put a ding on the economy. We would get all the manufacturing and technology (along with almost everything else) jobs yet they would have control of energy and agriculture, so we would have to trade we could not really cut them off. I don't know about resource distribution in the US, yet I am assuming a lot of materials and resources lie in places like the Appalachia and the gulf coast, so is it really worth it?

1. You are taking the thread WAY too seriously.
We are exercising our imaginations here....
(flexible, supple minds at work) Postulating, hypothesizing and generally enjoying ourselves.

4. I understand...
I always knew it was a joke, yet I am curious to see if there is anybody who thinks this plan would work.

3. As a resident of what would be "Jesusland"
I object.

Why do you want to leave behind all the good Democrats in the red states?

9. Look,
I know its a joke, I found it entertaining myself. I have made this clear. What I am trying to figure out if there are people who think it is more than a joke and feel that plan like this should be implemented.

11. Yes, there are people who think this is a good idea. Unfortunately ,
they have to wait for the mental facility to release them before they can pack up their bags. :-)

12. I think they might take us if they got Cali in the deal.
Hell, it would be warmer than anyplace they currently have.

(Come to think of it, Vermont is warmer than anyplace they currently have.)

14. I advocate a split - a bloodless agreement to go our separate ways....
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 10:02 PM by higher class
I don't think Canada would be interested. We need to split. We need to let their children go off to fight wars for their corporations and hang doctors who perfrom abortions. Let their own corporations screw their own citizens. Let us have our proportionate portion of land with the places where the Constitution and Bill of Rights were born and let us have leaders who would interpret the C and Rights in more just ways.

God said - let them separate because some of them ignore my words about brotherhood - and love of and help for their fellow man.

18. It's a great idea
They wanted their war. They got one. I, for one, don't plan to live in Margaret Atwood's world of the The Handmaid's Tale.

The Jesus freaks are just that-- freaks. They stain all that is good about Christianity and the belief in a Supreme being.

They are a cult that needs to have the light of truth shown down upon them.
