Divorce rate by State: Massachusetts with the lowest divorce rate
Nevada with the highest. How exactly is "family values" defined down South? I wonder what would qualify for moral issues. Do democrats in the South have lower divorce rate? I can almost bet.
Not trying to trash anybody, but merely point out a fact. No offense.

9. yup, i think liberals just learn to accept difference and get along with
people. that's why the most blue areas are the most populated areas. we learn to live with people of various backgrounds and learn about each other.

4. Massachusetts also has the lowest teenage pregnancy rate
the lowest infant mortality rate
the best public schools

I think it's pretty ironic that the "values" states lead the country in divorce, while the "heathen" states are among the lowest in divorce rates.

Ahhh, the hypocrisy.

it's cuz the libruls are all queer man-on-dog lovers.

"the lowest infant mortality rate"

libruls don't count abortion as murder.

"the best public schools"

book reading libruls with their 60% tax rates.

our income tax is only 5.2% and sales tax is 5%. And we don't have tax on clothes.

15. I don't. I wipe the floor with them.
I had a guy ask me on a plane where I was from. When I said Boston, he asked "Is that America?" and I let him have it. I said he's be speaking with a British accent and singing "God Save the Queen" instead of "God Bless America" if it weren't for a bunch of 'libruls' in Massachusetts.

this is 1994 and older data..... may still be accurate.... but be careful
you don't get nailed in a debate with that fact and aren't aware of it.

11. yep, better, but the new data is not crunched for "rate"....
I think the numbers probably are holding over time (why would they change?), but I have seen a lot of bogus numbers posted here in the last few days (like the bogus state IQ chart) and don't want DU'ers and their friends getting into arguments/debates with Bushies and getting caught with imprecise/inaccurate data.

Walking the walk on family values

By William V. D'Antonio | October 31, 2004

PRESIDENT Bush and Vice President Cheney make reference to "Massachusetts liberals" as if they were referring to people with some kind of disease. I decided it was time to do some research on these people, and here is what I found.

The state with the lowest divorce rate in the nation is Massachusetts. At latest count it had a divorce rate of 2.4 per 1,000 population, while the rate for Texas was 4.1.

But don't take the US government's word for it. Take a look at the findings from the George Barna Research Group. George Barna, a born-again Christian whose company is in Ventura, Calif., found that Massachusetts does indeed have the lowest divorce rate among all 50 states. More disturbing was the finding that born-again Christians have among the highest divorce rates.

The Associated Press, using data supplied by the US Census Bureau, found that the highest divorce rates are to be found in the Bible Belt. The AP report stated that "the divorce rates in these conservative states are roughly 50 percent above the national average of 4.2 per thousand people." The 10 Southern states with some of the highest divorce rates were Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas. By comparison nine states in the Northeast were among those with the lowest divorce rates: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Bet their abortion rate is higher too. This is the kind of stuff we need to fight back with: the truth.

16. Funny that it mentions the Barna study because....
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 12:37 AM by flowomo
just yesterday, I was on one of my regular excursions over at Freeperland and someone posted this Barna study and they were going apeshit over it.... lots of "must be bogus" and "oh, dear, this is terrible"-type stuff. Made them very nervous and unhappy.

But I think these new studies are still using that 1994 data.
