You know, I like GOre. He has undergone a real transformation since 2000. It worked for Nixon. Barely lost in 1960. Came back leaner and meaner in 1968. Won. Hopefully in Gore's case, he would not have to resign in disgrace like Nixon did. But is it possible? Running on a more populist platform.

But the Nixon analogy just doesn't apply.
The only restriction in this sense is that no one can be President for more than 2 terms or 10 years.

2. We need an altogether different approach. |

I like Gore, but I think his time is over, as is Clinton's and Kerry's. They've all had their chance, but the DLC is finished.
It's time for the Democrats to become a true opposition party, just as in a Parliamentary system. Stop all of this GOP-lite shit and come out with a neo-liberal platform that will effectively counter the Rovian/neo-conservative bullshit that keeps average citizens throughout the countryside voting against their interests. This responsibility falls upon Nancy Pelosi and whomever the new Senate Minority Leader will be.
Block everything the GOP does, period. And keep pounding home the idea of an alternative, better way.

I could absolutely, enthusiastically vote for Al Gore in 2008. I can't say the same thing about HIllary, but if she were nominated, I think I could hold my nose and vote for her. I am so TIRED of holding my nose though. Hopefully it will be someone we can all support without reservation.

He stood there and took it. I'm not sure Kerry has done any better. Edwards is on family leave and has a good reason not to be here.
Have you noticed the dead silence? Voter fraud in the South against African Americans and no response from Jessie Jackson. Gore is real quiet also totally out of character for the new Al Gore. Bush's olive branch press conference turned into a switch and no Democratic comment. Eerie isn't it?
