Late at night and I grieve for my country
It is late and sleep still eludes me, as my mind turns over the consequence of what has happened. In the face of reality, the population has retreated to a fantasy that has dire consequence. Hate has achieved a primacy in a country once filled with hope for all. My heart grieves for all that has been lost. The future appears dark and threatening; my mind finds no solace in the images that appears as it seeks to understand what has happened.

4. I sort feel the same way...I still have my Kerry signs up ...
and I am wondering if the hope was just a figment of my imagination as we start into FOUR MORE YEARS. And I feel like the public support of bush (albeit questionable as to how much) makes all the wrong ok...the lies about wmd, Abu Graib, Halliburton, 9-11 investigation...you name it...

5. here is a nice quote from Thomas Jefferson that was posted
here the other day by Elizabeth Edwards.

"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt. If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake."

6. I just realized I'm still in denial.
I keep expecting to shake off the nightmare and it won't be true. Is this how the German people felt when Hitler took power? Are we sure it was their idea?
