Ashcroft's resignation rumors=prepping for SCOTUS?
I would only feel comfortable about the rumors of Ashcroft's resignation only if it confirms he's not prepping himself to get a Supreme Court (SCOTUS) seat.

Do you think Ashcroft's resignation means he is going to take a long break and do something else, or is he going to spend his newly found time lobbying Congress to vote him in next opportunity?

And at the same time praying for the good health of the Justices.

1. Fillibuster.
So help me God, if Assclown even *thinks* about the Supreme Court, I will go to Washington D.C. with a stack of phone books to be read into the record.

I'd rather watch the Senate Dems hold the floor and talk nonstop until 2008 than have that nutcase on the Supreme Court.

5. You really think a filibuster is possible?
The Dems better have a strategy to do it or they'll get blown off the face of the floor...

14. 3/5 for breaking filibuster....more questions
Since the balance is 55R 45D....are there any other Democrats that we can't trust to stay on the Dem side.

One I can think of is Zell Miller (D-GA)...anyone know if he and Ashcroft get along?

We might need to plan this now, just in case!!!

3. HE has NO CHANCE - he is a zealot to such a degree
that he will have less than 1/2 the support of congressional repugs.

9.  -but we thought he wouldn't be appointed AG either
I guess I am a pessimist, but when I saw him getting confirmed as AG, I thought, it this turd wants SCOTUS, he'll probably get it.

4. You know what -- let them try!
We can see right off the bat what our Democratic Senators are made of and it will prove once and for all that Bush's pledge to unite the nation is pure unadulterated BS.

8. our dem senators are weak - they voted to give away all our
rights in fear in 2001
then they gave away the war
then they gave away the money

I don't have a lot of faith in any of them

10. They were weak in 2001
They may still be weak today -- but it doesn't mean that we can't do everything in our power to hold their feet to the fire. Otherwise, what else do we have??

I fully expect it after the first fillibuster in 109th Congress.

11. I am not so certain about filibuster--
Why didn't the Dems filibuster the AG appointment? Now that there are less of them in the Senate, what's the likelihood they will have the votes to keep him from running?
