Is There Any Way to Stop the "Nuclear Option" (On Fillibusters)
Remember all that talk last year about the "nuclear option" in regards to Senate fillibusters of judicial nominees?

Basically they threatened to change the Senate rules so that they could get around the fillibuster, I don't remember the specifics, but when I read it at the time it seemed like something that can be done.

The fillibuster is our last hope to keep crazy whacko right wing judges off the federal benches and protect choice and our civil liberties.

I fully expect that after the first fillibuster of the 109th Congress, Senate Republicans will go "nuclear" and change the rules in the name of "ending obstructionism" and this scares the hell out of me.

Is there anything we can do to stop them?

3. I will say everyone is worried about 2008. Worry more about 2006.
If electronic voting isn't fixed, the senate WILL have a supermajority of 60 and filibuster will not be an option.
