I think all the LANDSLIDE posts on DU jinxed us
That's all I read here on the days before the election.

LANDSLIDE

LANDSLIDE

KERRY IN A LANDSLIDE.

Any one posted otherwise that this would be a very close election and we should GOTV and not count our chickens before they hatch was verbally abused.

I really think this mindset was counterproductive. We should have always assumed we were a few points down and worked our asses off in the process to GOTV.

I also think part of the reason most of us are so depressed is we didn't have a REALISTIC expectations about the election.

We should have all mentally prepared for a close election that could have gone either way.

All the landslide talk was bullshit.

1. I never posted that, approved that or believed that
But I was still a bit stunned.

I don't think anyone slacked off in their efforts because of those posts. Although I'm sure those that did post in them where far more crushed than I was, since I thought it would be close, even if Kerry was looking good.

3. Bullshit, read the fraud threads, we were robbed.
Its not sour grapes, nor was it in 2002 or 2000. We may never win another election as long as the hacked voting fix is in.

Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 01:52 AM by tuvor
there's any fraud?

Just asking.

ON EDIT: You realize that, at 48 posts, you're just coming across as a little shit-disturber, don't you?

Just saying.

6. If you believe that
then explain the Washington Redskins loss. If the Redskins win the incumbent is re-elected, if not the challenger wins.

The Skins lost and we still have dumbya in the White House.

7. You're full of f#$king shit.
People who posted it would be close or that we should GOTV were not "verbally abused".

Show us one example.

10. Diebold ES&S & Sequoia Voting systems
Took care of any Landslide that may have been building for Kerry.

They will do the same in 08 Unless we do it to them First

Help do it to them First http://www.blackboxvoting.org/

SATURDAY Nov. 6 2004: A new story, with documents, is going up tonight. It is not about vote fraud. Those are coming. This one is about a certification situation that looks like -- well, you'll see what it looks like. Now, in the area of voting machine fraud, we have experts looking at very problematic information in several locations, but will not release it until conclusions are independently confirmed, hopefully within 24 hours.

If you have signed up to volunteer for Help America Audit you will receive instructions by tomorrow morning. E-mail crew@blackboxvoting.org

11. Oh my dear we weren't jinxed.
We were put in our place by the choir of divine voices we should have been listening to. The Rev.s Fallwell, Robertson and The God Hates Fags guy, whose name I presently can't remember.

<sarcasm off>

13. Personally
I'm still not dissuaded that we were not screwed by Diebold and ES&S. However, regarding your postulate I must respectfully disagree. I'm sure I was not the only one warning against complacency, or that this could be very close. I also am not sure but that thinking it would be a landslide would lead to wanting to pile it on. You know, "Let's really bury the tyrant so he can never rise again."

If you are right, though, who have we to blame but ourselves? I say let's keep posting, uncovering malfeasances and pointing out hypocrisies. Let's not allow the fools to get comfortable in their skins.

I think Kerry won IN A LANDSLIDE . . . if we could figure out the actual results and post them.

This election was not lost, it was STOLEN through FRAUD!!!

15. I posted one, so what?
This is an internet BB service, not Miss Cleo's Palace. Who cares if DU was wrong? Annybody lose a career over saying it?

If anybody cares how we were showing off enthusiasm and a bit of self esteem, and expect to play gotcha games on us, then it says a lot more about them than it does us.

It didnt cost me a dime, or an ounce of sleep to say Kerry in a Landslide...and it made a lot of people happy, and probably energized. It did more help than harm. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

We did get out the vote. We were energized, We exhausted all of our possible registrations, and all of our possible new votes, whose averages were much larger than history says. We pisssed a lot of people off by calling them at dinner every night to ask if "they sent it in" during the last 2 weeks. They got out The Spanish Inquisition crowd to vote for them...frankly, I'd rather lose than to have those small minded zealots on my side.
